Hugh Lyden |
Hugh Lyden was born on Wednesday, 3rd July, 1963, in Greenock, Renfrewshire. The 5' 11 (12st 0lbs) midfielder signed for Billy Lamont's Thistle circa Saturday, 4th July, 1987, having most recently been with Kilbirnie Ladeside. Aged 24, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 1st August, 1987, in a 3-1 friendly win away to Stenhousemuir. There were no goals for Hugh during his spell with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Wednesday, 19th August, 1987, in a 4-1 defeat away to Dundee United in the League Cup, having appeared as a Jag on 5 occasions. Hugh's club-list included Kilbirnie Ladeside, Partick Thistle and Auchinleck Talbot. |
Tall and skilful midflelder who bore more than a passing resemblance to Roy Race (of the Rovers). Signed from Junior Cup finalists of the time Kilbirnie Ladeside, he was unable to show the correct work-rate for a First Division midfielder, despite his undoubted ability. Hugh returned to the juniors with Auchinleck Talbot. |
