Houston |
![]() Houston (forename unknown) was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The forward appeared for Thistle as a trialist in May, 1898, whilst a Copeland player. He made his only known appearance on Wednesday, 4th May, 1898, in a 6-1 win at home to Rugby Rovers in a Benefit match. That day, Houston became a member of our scoring debutant's club. His club-list included Copeland and Partick Thistle. We don't know where or when Houston died. *

![]() Played at outside left in his only known game for Thistle in May 1898, an unusual fixture played against Rugby Rovers (yes, a team made up of rugby players) in aid of the Partick Nurses Jubilee Fund. Five trialists played that evening: John Buchan (Alloa Seafield), Willie Ferguson (Ashton), George Drummond (Alloa Seafield), James Brydson (6th GRV) & Houston (Copeland). Copeland were a junior outfit from Govan, formed in the mid 1880s as an offshoot of Kinning Park Athletic seniors. |
