Bio Extra

Mystery man Hill featured at inside left in his only known appearance for the Jags, a 1-1 draw versus Clyde at Barrowfield Park in December 1885. “Thistle were feebly represented which perhaps accounts for the result” said the Athletic News in a very straightforward manner. There was nothing much between the teams but Clyde went ahead (10) before Thistle equalised with “a fine header” by Bob Robertson. Clyde went down to 10 men after h-t but Thistle only managed a few chances and had to settle for a draw.

Historian's note: Could well be the same player as Hugh Hill who was the second eleven captain and registered several first team appearances from 1889-90 onwards, but we haven't found a link to make us comfortable with the 3+ years gap.
