Herbert Lock was born on Friday, 21st January, 1887, in Southampton, Hampshire. The 5' 8 goalkeeper signed for George Easton's Thistle on Saturday, 21st September, 1918, having most recently been with Rangers. Aged 31, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 21st September, 1918, in a 2-1 win away to Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Football League. There were no clean-sheets for Herbert during his spell with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 21st December, 1918, in a 1-1 draw away to Dumbarton in the Scottish Football League, having appeared as a Jag on 3 occasions. His club-list included St Mary's Guild, Southampton, Rangers, Kilmarnock, Ayr United, Partick Thistle, St Mirren, Queens Park Rangers and Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic. Herbert died on Saturday, 16th March, 1957, in Southampton, Hampshire, aged 70. |
