 Graham Mitchell was born on Friday, 2nd November 1962, in Glasgow. The 5' 10 (11st 12lbs) defender joined John McVeigh's Thistle for a trial period in July, 1997, having most recently been with Falkirk. Aged 34, he made his one and only appearance on Tuesday, 29th July, 1997, in a 3-0 friendly defeat at home to Hull City. Graham's club-list included Hamilton Academical, Hibernian, Falkirk, Partick Thistle and Shettleston Juniors. |

 A product of Auchengill Star boys club, the teenager began his career as a midfielder with Hamilton Accies in 1980, making over 175 league appearances before joining Hibernian in 1986, where he eventually drifted back as a defender. Graham was a natural left footer, and soon became an important part of Alex Miller's side. A major highlight of his career arrived in October 1991 when he lined up at left back for Hibs at Hampden in the league cup final. Over 40,000 watched as second half goals from Tommy McIntyre (pen) and Keith Wright gave the Easter Road side a 2-0 win over Dunfermline Athletic. In all, he went on to make over 250 league appearances for the club. In August 1996, Alex Totten was in the market for an experienced defender and signed him for Falkirk. Graham made 26 appearances in all competitions that term, but was allowed to leave at the end of the campaign. By now a free agent, John McVeigh gave the 34-year-old a run-out for Thistle in a pre-season friendly with Mark Hately's Hull City on 29 August 1997, but no deal was forthcoming. With almost 550 senior appearance under his belt, Graham stepped back to the juniors with Shettleston. Was, and still is, best mates with a certain Maurice Johnston! |
