Gerard Docherty was born on Thursday, 15th October, 1959, in Broxburn, West Lothian.

The 6' 0 (11st 6lbs) forward signed for Peter Cormack's Thistle on Monday, 16th February, 1981, having most recently been with Armadale Thistle.

Aged 21, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 25th July, 1981, in a 6-0 friendly win away to Ross County.

There were no goals for Gerry during his time with Thistle.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 26th March, 1983, in a 3-1 win at home to Ayr United in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 19 occasions.

Gerry's club-list included Armadale Thistle, Partick Thistle and Shotts Bon Accord.

Young midfielder-cum-forward who joined the club from juniors, Armadale Thistle in 1982, and played once in the Premier Division. Unable to keep his place in the promotion-seeking team of 82/83.
