George L. Stewart |
![]() George Lindsay Stewart was born on Monday, 11th December, 1882, in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire. The forward signed for George Easton's Thistle on Thursday, 27th July, 1911, having most recently been with Manchester City. Aged 28, he made his debut appearance on Tuesday, 15th August, 1911, in a 1-1 draw at home to Morton in the SFL First Division. George scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 10th February, 1912, in a 1-0 win away to Queen's Park in the SFL First Division. He scored his second and final goal for the club on Saturday, 2nd March, 1912, in a 3-1 win at home to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division. He played his last game for Thistle on Saturday, 27th April, 1912, in a 2-1 defeat away to Heart of Midlothian in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 20 occasions. His club-list included Wishaw Thistle, Wishaw United, Strathclyde, Hibernian, Manchester City, Partick Thistle, Stalybridge Celtic and Merthyr Town. George died on Saturday, 10th November, 1962, in Daveyhulme, Greater Manchester, aged 79. |
