George Clark |
George Clark was born on Tuesday, 15th July, 1958, in Renton, West Dunbartonshire. The 5' 10 (10st 7lbs) midfielder signed for Bertie Auld's Thistle on Thursday, 21st September, 1978, having most recently been with Balloch Juveniles. Aged 20, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 28th October, 1978, in a 2-0 defeat away to Dundee United in the SFL Premier Division. George scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 21st July, 1979, in a 4-0 win away to Metro Selects in the Gathering of the Clans Tournament. He scored the last of his 12 goals on Saturday, 21st November, 1981, in a 2-2 draw at home to Morton in the SFL Premier Division. He played his last game for the club on Wednesday, 22nd September, 1982, in a 3-0 defeat at home to Celtic in the League Cup, having appeared as a Jag on 74 occasions. George's club-list included Vale of Leven, Balloch Juveniles, Partick Thistle, Baillieston Juniors, Stenhousemuir, Falkirk, East Stirlingshire, Pollok and Irvine Meadow XI. |
Signed from Balloch Juveniles in 1978, George made his debut in 1978 but did not play regularly until 1980. Teamed up with Maurice Johnston and scored at Ibrox in the 2-0 win in 1981. Played just two games in the First Division before he was transferred to Baillieston. From there he stepped up again to Stenhousemuir and Falkirk before signing for Pollok. |
