Gary O'Connor was born on Sunday, 7th April, 1974, in Newtongrange, Midlothian.

The 6' 2 (12st 4lbs) goalkeeper signed for John McVeigh's Thistle on Friday, 1st August, 1997, having most recently been with Dundee.

Aged 23, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 2nd August, 1997, in a 1-1 draw away to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division.

There were no clean-sheets for Gary during his spell with Thistle.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 23rd August, 1997, in a 2-2 draw away to Ayr United in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 5 occasions.

Gary's club-list included Dalkeith Thistle, Berwick Rangers, Heart of Midlothian, Doncaster Rovers, Dundee, Partick Thistle, Cowdenbeath, East Fife, East Stirlingshire, Raith Rovers and Newtongrange Star.

The former Hearts keeper joined Thistle on a short-term deal at the start of the 97/98 season. Marked his Thistle debut with a penalty save against Hamilton but struggled to show consistent form and he didn't remain at Firhill beyond the opening weeks of the season.
