Eric John Paton was born on Tuesday, 1st August, 1978, in Glasgow. The 5' 9 (11st 11lbs) defender signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Monday, 5th July, 1999, having most recently been with Hibernian. Aged 20, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 17th July, 1999, in a 2-0 defeat away to Livingston in the Motorola Cup . Eric scored his only goal for Thistle on Monday, 3rd January, 2000, in a 2-2 draw at home to Hamilton Academical in the SFL Second Division. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 22nd April, 2000, in a 2-0 defeat away to Stenhousemuir in the SFL Second Division, having appeared as a Jag on 34 occasions. Eric's club-list included Hibernian, Stenhousemuir, Partick Thistle, Clydebank, Queen of the South and Dundee. |

He joined Thistle from Hibs in the summer of '99, and although injury hampered his first few months with the club, he was soon showing the form that made him a much-sought after youngster following his release from Easter Road. Despite his ability, his fitness level was never that great and he's was freed at the end of the season. Played with Clydebank in their final season, and moved on to Queen of the South. |
