Eddie Annand |
Edward Annand was born on Saturday, 24th March, 1973, in Glasgow. The 5' 11 (11st 1lbs) forward signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Tuesday, 30th July, 1991, having most recently been with Partick Thistle Boys Club. Aged 18, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 3rd August, 1991, in a 3-1 friendly win away to Balintore. That day, Eddie became a member of our scoring debutant's club. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 8th February, 1992, in a 3-0 win at home to Montrose in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 3 occasions. Eddie's club-list included Partick Thistle, Sligo Rovers, Clyde, Dundee, Ayr United, Greenock Morton, St Mirren, Dumbarton, Raith Rovers, Lochee United, Bathgate Thistle and Arthurlie. |
Every club has tales of the player that got away and Eddie Annand is Thistle's. Annand came through the youth ranks at Firhill scoring goals aplenty but started just one first team match for Thistle, a league cup tie against Albion Rovers. After his free transfer from Firhill he joined Irish outfit Sligo Rovers before returning to Scotland to play with Clyde and Dundee, and went on to feature for a number of SFL sides, including Ayr Utd and Dumbarton. |
