Douglas Gordon McNab was born on Tuesday, 3rd July, 1956, in Edinburgh.

The 6' 0 (13st 1lbs) goalkeeper signed for Bertie Auld's Thistle on Wednesday, 27th February, 1980, having most recently been with Alloa Athletic.

Aged 23, he made his debut appearance on Monday, 5th May, 1980, in a 1-0 win away to Hibernian in the SFL Premier Division.

In doing so, Dougie joined the goalies' clean-sheet debutant's club.

He registered the last of his 20 clean-sheets on Saturday, 12th November, 1983, in a 5-0 win at home to Alloa Athletic in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 3rd December, 1983, in a 2-2 draw at home to Brechin City in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 65 occasions.

Dougie's club-list included Penicuik Athletic, Alloa Athletic, Partick Thistle, Hamilton Academical, Dumbarton and Meadowbank Thistle.

Bio Extra

Goalkeeper signed in 1980 as an understudy to Alan Rough when Biliy Thompson left the club, he played in a handful of games until Rough left. Following that he was promoted to the first team and played until John Brough was signed. After playing with Dumbarton and Hamilton on loan, he left Firhill for Meadowbank and played in a League Cup semi-final, before moving to Newtongrange Star.
