Derek Joseph Collins was born on Thursday, 10th July, 1969, in Glasgow.

The 5' 8 (10st 7lbs) defender temporarily transferred to John Lambie's Thistle on Saturday, 23rd December, 2000, from his parent club, Hibernian.

Aged 31, he made his debut appearance on Tuesday, 26th December, 2000, in a 3-0 win at home to Stenhousemuir in the SFL Second Division.

Derek scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 6th January, 2001, in a 3-0 win at home to Deveronvale in the Scottish Cup.

He scored his second and final goal for the club on Saturday, 10th February, 2001, in a 4-0 win at home to Forfar Athletic in the SFL Second Division.

He played his last game for Thistle on Saturday, 17th March, 2001, in a 2-0 win at home to Clydebank in the SFL Second Division, having appeared as a Jag on 14 occasions.
