David Wilson [i] |
David Wilson was born on Wednesday, 22nd January, 1986, in Glasgow. The 6' 1 (12st 10lbs) defender signed for Gerry Collins's Thistle on Wednesday, 2nd July, 2003, having most recently been with Rangers. Aged 18, he was listed as a substitute for the first time on Monday, 12th July, 2004, in a 2-0 friendly win away to Stenhousemuir. There were no registered first-team appearances for David in his time at Thistle. David's club-list included Rangers, Partick Thistle, Cowdenbeath, Bo'ness United, Bellshill Athletic, Ardrossan Winton Rovers, Saltcoats Victoria, Dalry Thistle, Arthurlie, Ardeer Thistle and Irvine Victoria. |
In December 2016, the 30-year-old Irvine Victoria defender - brother of Vics boss Stevie - made the heartbreaking call just days before Christmas that he would retire from the game for his own well being. He had suffered a relapse of an old knee injury in Vicsβ last game before the festive break β a 3-1 defeat at Shotts Bon Accord. However, a whole year later, he made a comeback, playing 17 times before retiring naturally at the end of season 2017-18. His 5 season 100+ appearances with the Vics from 2013-14 onwards was in stark contrast to his 16 year journeyman career prior to that. |
