David Proudfoot was born on Monday, 1st April, 1872, in Dunfermline, Fife.

The midfielder signed for Thistle in August, 1895, having most recently been with Whiteinch.

Aged 23, he made his first known appearance on Saturday, 24th August, 1895, in a 6-2 win away to Renton in the SFL Second Division.

David scored his first known goal for Thistle on Saturday, 7th September, 1895, in a 2-2 draw at home to Kilmarnock in the SFL Second Division.

He scored the last of his 7 known goals on Saturday, 23rd December, 1899, in a 4-1 win at home to St Mirren in the Western League.

He played his last known game for the club on Saturday, 11th May, 1901, in a 4-1 defeat away to St Mirren in the Western League, having clocked up at least 111 appearances for the Thistle.

His club-list included Whiteinch, Partick Thistle, Leicester Fosse and Bedminster.

David died on Monday, 3rd March, 1941, in Partick, Glasgow, aged 68.
