![]() David Cupples was born on Friday, 23rd January, 1920, in Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire. The forward signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Wednesday, 23rd December, 1942, having most recently been with Maryhill. Aged 23, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 6th February, 1943, in a 1-1 draw away to Motherwell in the Southern League. David scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 30th December, 1944, in a 3-2 win at home to Morton in the Southern League. He scored the last of his 3 goals on Saturday, 3rd March, 1945, in a 2-0 win at home to Clyde in the Southern League Cup. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 10th March, 1945, in a 1-0 defeat at home to Celtic in the Southern League Cup, having appeared as a Jag on 16 occasions. His club-list included Maryhill, Partick Thistle, Morton and Hamilton Academical. David died on Sunday, 25th January, 2004, in Inverclyde, aged 84. |
