● David Anderson, c1958 (HA)

born in Scotland

David Anderson was born on Thursday, 21st January, 1937, in Aberdeen.

The 5' 9 (11st 2lbs) forward signed for David Meiklejohn's Thistle circa Saturday, 18th May, 1957, having most recently been with Blantyre Victoria.

Aged 21, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 5th April, 1958, in a 3-2 defeat away to Raith Rovers in the SFL First Division.

There were no goals for David during his spell with Thistle.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 24th January, 1959, in a 4-3 win away to Aberdeen in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 3 occasions.

David's club-list included Blantyre Victoria, Partick Thistle, Chesterfield and Cape Town City.

Historian's note: OH / JL both describe this player simply as "David Anderson", whilst BH states he was a "Robert Anderson". The HA hedges bets by calling him "Bobby" in the headline and "Davie" in the text. The HA tells that after Chesterfield he played with Cape Town City. A Cape Town City line-up of 1966 on Pinterest identifies an "R. Anderson". Here on The Thistle Archive we still have David Anderson listed as per our original interpretation, but will need to re-research the case and come to a definitive conclusion.
