Craig Slater was born on Tuesday, 26th April, 1994, in Glasgow. The 5' 10 (11st 9lbs) midfielder signed for Alan Archibald's Thistle on Wednesday, 4th July, 2018, having most recently been signed to Colchester United. Aged 24, he made his debut appearance on Sunday, 8th July, 2018, in a 3-1 neutral-venue friendly defeat to Heart of Midlothian. Craig scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 17th November, 2018, in a 1-1 draw away to Falkirk in the SPFL Championship. He scored the last of his 3 goals on Saturday, 16th November, 2019, in a 4-1 win away to Stenhousemuir in the Challenge Cup. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 18th January, 2020, in a 2-1 defeat at home to Celtic in the Scottish Cup, having appeared as a Jag on 52 occasions. At July, 2023, his club-list included St Mirren, Kilmarnock, Colchester United, Dundee United, AC Horsens, Partick Thistle, Queen's Park, Forfar Athletic and Arbroath. |
Central midfielder who represented Scotland at U16 levels all the way through to U21. Regarded as a leader at many of his clubs and, after starting his career with Kilmarnock, he played for Colchester United, with a loan spell at Dundee United. The midfielder joined Thistle in July 2018 from Colchester United making his competitive Jags debut in a 2-0 win over Stenhousemuir at Ochilview in the Betfred Cup. That would be the first of 51 competitive appearances Craig made for the club, scoring three times along the way. The first of those three goals came in a 1-1 draw away to Falkirk in November 2018, with Slater winning the McCrea FS Player of the Month award for that month. He left Thistle in the transfer window of January 2020, signing for League Two side Queen's Park. He would win the league with the Spiders, prior to leaving the club in 2021. In May 2021, Forfar Athletic announced that they had signed Slater on a two-year deal. He was captain at Station Park and was nominated for the Scottish League Two player of the year and named in the PFA team of the year in 2022β23. Craig stepped back up to the Scottish Championship in May 2023, signing a two-year contract with Dick Campbell's Arbroath. Away from his playing Career, Craig is also the first team coach at Scottish Womenβs Premier League Side Motherwell under Head Coach Paul Brownlie. |
