Conrad Balatoni |
Conrad G. Balatoni was born on Sunday, 27th January, 1991, in Leeds. The 6' 0 (13st 1lbs) defender temporarily transferred to Ian McCall's Thistle on Friday, 6th August, 2010, from his parent club, Heart of Midlothian. Aged 19, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 7th August, 2010, in a 4-0 defeat away to Raith Rovers in the SFL First Division. Conrad scored his first goal for Thistle on Tuesday, 22nd March, 2011, in a 3-0 win away to Stirling Albion in the SFL First Division. He scored the last of his 13 goals on Saturday, 16th May, 2015, in a 4-1 defeat at home to Kilmarnock in the SPFL Premiership. That turned out to be his last game for the club, having clocked up 175 appearances as a Jag. Conrad's club-list included Heart of Midlothian, Partick Thistle, Kilmarnock, Ayr United, Airdrieonians, Falkirk, Torquay United, Edinburgh City, Clyde, Berwick Rangers and Civil Service Strollers. |
The defender started his career in the youth teams of Heart of Midlothian. Having failed to break into the Hearts first team, Balatoni joined Partick Thistle in 2012 after spending two loan spells there. After a five-year stint with the Maryhill side, Balatoni joined Kilmarnock in 2015, then moved to Ayr United a year later. Short-term deals with Falkirk in the SPFL Championship and then Torquay United in the National League followed before Balatoni returned to Scottish football with Edinburgh City. Balatoni joined Scottish League One side Clyde in June 2021. Although born in Leeds, England, Balatoni is eligible to play for either Scotland, England, Hungary or Austria, as a result of his Hungarian and Austrian grandparents, who moved to England during the outbreak of World War II. In his prime Balatoni stated that he would be "open to playing for either Austria or Hungary if the chance ever came up." |
