Colin West |
Colin William West was born on Tuesday, 19th September, 1967, in Middlesbrough. The 5' 7 forward temporarily transferred to Derek Johnstone's Thistle on Friday, 19th September, 1986, from his parent club, Chelsea. Aged 19, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 20th September, 1986, in a 2-0 defeat away to East Fife in the SFL First Division. Colin scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 4th October, 1986, in a 2-2 draw away to Dumbarton in the SFL First Division. He scored the last of his 10 goals on Tuesday, 3rd March, 1987, in a 2-1 defeat at home to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division. That turned out to be his last game for the club, having appeared as a Jag on 26 occasions. Colin's club-list included Chelsea, Partick Thistle, Swansea City, Dundee, Hartlepool United and Bishop Auckland. |
Much has been written already in this season's programmes about Colin West. At the time he was on loan from Chelsea, and proved himself a popular and dangerous player with pace, control and strength. He returned to Chelsea and immediately made his first team debut, scoring against Arsenal. He returned to Scotland in 1990/91 to play for Dundee. |
