Bio Extra

Charlie joined the Hamilton Accies Youth Academy at the age of 9 and played at every age group in his nine years there. He was a member of Accies' unbeaten Under-17 team which won their Elite Youth League during the 2017–18 season and qualified for the 2018–19 UEFA Youth League. Shortly after winning that title, Charlie was rewarded with his first professional contract, the 16-year-old penning a two-year deal with Accies. He made three appearances in the Scottish Challenge Cup with the U20s over the following two seasons, but never made an appearance for the senior team, and spent 5 months on loan to Airdrieonians, making 7 competitive appearances from August 2019 until December 2019.

In early October 2020, following a successful trial period, Charlie, described at the time as a box-to-box midfielder, signed a one-year deal with 3rd tier Partick Thistle. After blowing hot and cold, it would prove to be a title-winning season for Ian McCall's men in the end, but Charlie never really found a place. He got 13 minutes in the opening league game (a 0-1 loss to Clyde in October) and got his one and only competitive start in the meaningless end-of-season game at Montrose, the title already secured. In-between, Charlie also came on as a late sub in the final league cup group game vs. Morton but, but the penalty win and bonus point weren't enough, and Thistle failed to qualify from the first round group stages for the first time since 1981.

Deemed not good enough for the championship, Charlie stepped back to the 4th tier with Albion Rovers in the summer of 2021, where he re-invented himself as a winger and impressed everyone at the club over his two seasons. In 2022-23, Charlie's form made headlines; the final tally-up included 24 goals and 19 assists over 39 games for Albion Rovers. He was awarded League Two's player of the month both in November 2022 and in January 2023. Come the end of the campaign, he was voted PFA Scotland’s League Two player of the season and nominated for young player of the season.

Charlie signed a two year deal with Premiership Dundee in the summer of 2023, but was hampered with injury in his first months. He played eight matches for Dundee in all competitions, all appearances from the bench, before heading for Abroath in February 2024, on loan until the end of the season.
