William McGhie was born on Monday, 13th November, 1961, in Glasgow.

The 5' 10 (10st 7lbs) defender signed for Billy Lamont's Thistle circa Saturday, 13th June, 1987, having most recently been with Clydebank.

Aged 25, he made his debut appearance on Monday, 3rd August, 1987, in a 2-1 friendly defeat away to Baillieston Juniors.

Budgie scored his only goal for Thistle on Saturday, 6th August, 1988, in a 2-0 friendly win away to Ballymena United.

He played his last game for Thistle on Tuesday, 18th April, 1989, in a 1-0 win away to Queen's Park in the Glasgow Cup, having appeared as a Jag on 61 occasions.

Budgie's club-list included Clydebank, Partick Thistle, Queen of the South and Arthurlie.

Bio Extra

Gained experience of the Premier Divislon with Clydebank before joining Thistle, where he played regularly during his first season. The following season he was unable to win his place in the team, and left at the end of that season for Queen of the South.
