The 5' 9½ (11st 0lbs) midfielder signed for Benny Rooney's Thistle on Monday, 8th October, 1984, having most recently been with Stonehouse Violet. Bobby scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 17th August, 1985, in a 2-1 win away to Dumbarton in the SFL First Division. He scored the last of his 11 goals on Wednesday, 11th August, 1993, in an 11-1 win away to Albion Rovers in the League Cup. He played his last game for the club on Friday, 17th February, 1995, in a 2-0 friendly win away to Ayr United, having clocked up an impressive 314 appearances as a Jag. Bobby's club-list included Stonehouse Violet, Partick Thistle, St Mirren, Ayr United, Stenhousemuir and Kilsyth Rangers. |
A Thistle player since the mid 1980s, few players deserved to be successful in the Premier League with Thistle more than Bobby Law. Was the centre of more heated terracing debates any other player in recent history, but nobody could deny Bobby's commitment to Thistle although he did have a few moments that he would care to forget. The good far outweighed the bad however, the highlights of his Thistle career probably coming when he captained the side for two games, and never a prolific scorer, scored in both matches. |
