A product of the youth system at Queen's Park, Blair's form in League Two caught the eye of Dundee United who moved quickly to bring him to Tayside in 2014. Making 108 appearances in three years at Tannadice, he got his first taste of top flight football before helping the Terrors to victory in the 2017 Challenge Cup final over St Mirren, following United's relegation. A return to the top league came at Partick Thistle in 2017 where he continued to make his mark, scoring 15 goals in 89 appearances for the Jags across two seasons. A 3 year move to Ross County followed, interspersed with a second spell (this time on loan) at Partick Thistle during 2020-21. Blair signed for Motherwell in 2022, where his reputation for goals and creativity was cemented. Following a hugely productive season at Fir Park, in which he sat second the Premiership assist charts with 11 created, and registered 13 goals in all competitions, Blair signed a 3-year-deal with Hearts in June, 2024.
