Bio Extra

The young midfielder progressed through the Thistle Weir Youth Academy pathway, and was introduced to the first team squad to gain further experience at the beginning of season 2021-22. Very briefly made his debut as a 16-year-old, coming on at the end of a 2-0 Challenge Cup win at Stranraer. Described by Ian McCall as a "determined player with a good attitude", Ben was rewarded with a 2½ year modern apprenticeship at the beginning of 2022. In June 2022, his skilful dribbling provided a brilliant assist for his fellow graduate, James Lyon, securing a one nil friendly win for the Jags at Kelty Hearts.

By the turn of New Year 2023, the 18-year-old had made 5 competitive appearances for Thistle, all from the bench, and manager Ian McCall cited him as one destined to be a first-team player of the future, adding that competition in the middle of the park was limiting his opportunities. To aid this development, a loan deal with League One Airdrie was announced on New Years Day 2023. Back at Firhill for 2023-24, his good early season form was underlined in September 2023, when he scored his first senior goal as a Jag, just 2 weeks shy of his 19th birthday. A two-year contract extension to the summer of 2026 was announced during the week which followed.
