• Ben Dempsey, 2025 (FDB) Ben Michael Dempsey was born on Thursday, 25th November, 1999, in Tooting, London. The 5' 11 midfielder signed for Mark Wilson's Thistle on Wednesday, 10th June, 2026, having most recently been with Ayr United. Aged 26, he was listed as a substitute for the first time on Friday, 7th August, 2026, at home to Livingston in the SPFL Championship. We look forward to seeing him make his debut for Thistle. His club-list includes Charlton Athletic, Kingstonian, Dulwich Hamlet, Woking, Ayr United and Partick Thistle. Ben is contracted at Firhill until May, 2028.

Bio Extra

Having signed his first professional contract with Charlton Athletic in May 2018, Dempsey made his debut for 'The Addicks' on the 14th August that year, playing the full 90 minutes in a 3–0 EFL Trophy defeat to Milton Keynes Dons. Dempsey joined Kingstonian on loan in December 2019 before joining Dulwich Hamlet on a one-month loan on 8 November 2019, making his debut for Dulwich on that day in a 4–1 FA Cup defeat to Carlisle United. He then joined Woking on loan in February 2020 for the rest of the 2019-20 season. On 12 October 2020, Dempsey returned to Woking for a second loan spell, this time running until 9 January 2021. On 13 January 2021, the loan was extended until the end of the 2020-21 season. On 24 January 2022, Dempsey joined Scottish Championship side Ayr United on loan for the rest of the 2021–22 season, with an option for a permanent deal in the summer. On 16 May 2022, it was announced that Dempsey would join Ayr United on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee. He spent four and a half seasons at Somerset Park, during which time he played 158 games and scored 21 goals for the Honest Men, contributing to two top four finishes and becoming club captain. In the summer of 2026 he made the switch to Firhill and Thistle head coach Mark Wilson had his to say: We’ve obviously seen Ben up close on a number of occasions when we’ve played against Ayr United and I’ve repeatedly been impressed with the way he operates in the middle of the park. He reads the game exceptionally well and has the ability to pick the sort of line breaking pass that a lot of players might not be able to see, never mind execute. The midfield is always going to be important, especially for a team who play the way we do, and I’m excited about the qualities that Ben will bring to ours.
