Arlen Birch |
Arlen Tom Birch was born on Thursday, 12th September, 1996, in Wrexham. The 5' 10 (11st 5lbs) defender joined Alan Archibald's Thistle for a trial in July, 2018, having most recently been with Burnley. Aged 21, he made his only appearance on Sunday, 8th July, 2018, in a 3-1 neutral-venue friendly defeat to Heart of Midlothian. There were no goals for Arlen in his one-off appearance for Thistle. His club-list included Burnley, Partick Thistle, Fylde, Telford United and Chorley. |
Born in Wrexham, Birch could have represented Wales but chose England and was capped at the under-16 and under-18 levels alongside Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Harry Winks. He has fond memories of facing Spain and of “chasing around Kingsley Coman for 90 minutes” against France. Tragically, in January 2022, he was forced to retire from football, aged 25, due to a hereditary heel condition. |
