Archibald Jamieson Gourlay was born on Thursday, 21st April, 1910, in Stirling.

The 5' 9 (11st 7lbs) goalkeeper signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Thursday, 6th April, 1933, having most recently been with Dunipace.

Aged 23, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 12th August, 1933, in a 7-3 win away to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division.

Archie kept his first clean-sheet on Wednesday, 5th September, 1934, in a 4-0 friendly win away to Buckie Thistle.

He registered the last of his 3 clean-sheets on Monday, 24th September, 1934, in a 4-0 win at home to Clyde in the Glasgow Cup.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 20th October, 1934, in a 3-1 defeat at home to Celtic in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 16 occasions.

His club-list included St Ninians Thistle, King's Park, Dunipace, Partick Thistle, Albion Rovers, Hibernian and Stirling Albion.

Archie died on Friday, 28th March, 1986, in Stirling, aged 75.
