Andrew Smyth was born on Thursday, 27th August, 1964, in Johnstone, Renfrewshire.

The 5' 10½ (12st 0lbs) goalkeeper signed for Bertie Auld's Thistle on Tuesday, 2nd September, 1980, having most recently been with Barrhead Boys Club.

Aged 18, he made his debut appearance on Tuesday, 10th May, 1983, in a 2-0 win at home to Queen's Park in the Glasgow Cup.

In doing so, Andy joined the goalies' clean-sheet debutant's club. It was his only clean-sheet during his spell with Thistle.

He played his second and last known game for the club on Saturday, 14th October, 1893, in a 5-2 win at home to Morton.

Andy's club-list included Partick Thistle, Troon, Benburb and Cumnock Juniors.

Bio Extra

Brought through the ranks from an S-form signing, he played only twice in three seasons as cover for McNab and Brough. He was freed at the end of the season and joined Troon Juniors.
