Bio Extra

Unquestionably Murdo MacLead's best piece of transfer business as Thistle manager. Andy signed from Wigan Athletic and although he didn't manage a debut goal against Raith, he managed double in each of the next two games, a 2-1 win at Falkirk and an unforgettable 5-2 success at Tynecastle against Hearts. A stunning free kick fired Thistle into an early lead in the ill-fated two-legged play-off with Dundee United. Injury led to some inconsistency the following season as the whole club suffered a relegation hangover and worse was to follow 12 months later as The Jags dropped to the Second Division. The pain of that relegation was all to clear on the face of a player who became a big favourite with the Firhill faithful. Was one of a large number of players to depart Firhill following that relegation.
