Anderson [ii]
Anderson [ii]
A. Player

probably born in Scotland

Anderson (forename unknown) was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. *

The forward was possibly a guest player for George Easton's Thistle in January, 1911.

He made his only appearance on Wednesday, 4th January, 1911, in a 1-0 win at home to St Mirren in a Benefit match.

That day, Anderson became a member of our scoring debutant's club.

His known club-list included only Partick Thistle.

We don't know where or when Anderson died. *

Bio Extra

Whoever he was, this forward got a good write-up in all the papers for his stand-out performance in Alex McGregor's benefit game on 4th January 1911. It was Thistle's third game in three days, so enlisting some extra support was understandable. The match was played on a slippy pitch on a horrible afternoon, but 2,000 turned out to ensure a handsome pay day for Alex.

McGregor was with Thistle from 1906 to 1912. Before that, he had played in the juniors with Ashfield. Could be that Anderson is an old pal from those junior days, or perhaps he was an up and coming trialist.
