Alastair James Love was born on Monday, 9th May, 1955, in Leith, Edinburgh.

The 5' 9 (10st 0lbs) midfielder signed for Bertie Auld's Thistle on Friday, 9th July, 1976, having most recently been with Newport County.

Aged 21, he made his debut appearance on Monday, 2nd August, 1976, in a 2-0 defeat away to Rangers in the Tennent Caledonian Cup.

Ally scored his first two goals for Thistle on Saturday, 10th September, 1977, in a 4-0 win away to Clydebank in the SFL Premier Division.

He scored the last of his 3 goals on Saturday, 24th March, 1979, in a 3-3 defeat (on pens) away to Rangers in the Glasgow Cup.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 24th November, 1979, in a 2-0 friendly win at home to Raith Rovers, having appeared as a Jag on 94 occasions.
