Alexander Stewart was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. *

The forward signed for George Easton's Thistle on Wednesday, 17th October, 1906, having most recently been with East Benhar.

He made his one and only appearance on Saturday, 10th November, 1906, in a 1-1 draw at home to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division.

There were no goals for Alexander in his one-off appearance with Thistle.

Bio Extra

Referred to in the OH as 'H. Stewart', possibly an 'H' for 'A' typo. He signed from the wonderfully named East Benhar Heatherbell, a Junior outfit from Fauldhouse. He was considered a forward who could play at centre or the inside right. His stay at Meadowside was short-lived however and, in mid-December, he moved on to Ayr. At this time he was identified as Alexander Stewart (DR, APJ & SR). He never made the full first-team breakthrough with them either, although it wasn't for the want of trying, as he fell back from centre forward to centre half, even keeping goal for Ayr in their final season, 1909-10! He left before the merger between Ayr and Ayr Parkhouse which birthed Ayr United.
