 Alexander Dunn was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The forward signed for George Easton's Thistle on Monday, 1st June, 1914, having most recently been with Ashfield. He made his debut appearance on Saturday, 19th September, 1914, in a 2-0 defeat away to St Mirren in the SFL First Division. There were no goals for Alex during his spell with Thistle. He played his second and last game for the club on Tuesday, 13th April, 1915, in a 2-2 draw at home to Rangers in a Benefit match. His club-list included Morton, Glasgow Perthshire, Ashfield, Partick Thistle and Abercorn. We don't know where or when Alex died. *

 Alex joined Morton in April 1910, but had to take a step back to make his mark, playing with Perthshire (1912-13) and Ashfield (1913-14), before landing at Firhill in the summer of 1914. The outside-left played for the Jags first team on only 2 occasions though, the first of which was a 2-0 away defeat against St Mirren in September 1914. Somewhat dryly, the Glasgow Herald commented that “The Thistle forwards evidently reserve their best efforts for Firhill.” He also played in an Orange Lodge fundraiser against Rangers in front of 3,000 at Firhill in April, 1915. Thistle played a number of junior players on the night, but it was Neil Harris who scored both Thistle goals, the clincher coming in the 89th minute of the match. Alex signed up for the war effort, but continued his footballing for a while, signing with Western League Abercorn in September 1915. Alex had joined the Gordon Highlanders, and played for them in a match against the Highland Light Infantry. The Gordons won 2-0. He was going great guns with the Abbies by the turn of the year, but his regiment was called to England in February 1916, and his footballing trail goes cold from there.
