Alan McConville was born on Thursday, 9th July, 1970, in Glasgow. The 5' 8½ (11st 11lbs) forward signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Friday, 17th August, 1990 (after a trial period), having most recently been with Cumbernauld United. Aged 20, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 4th August, 1990, in a 6-0 friendly win away to Ness. Alan scored his only goal for Thistle on Tuesday, 7th August, 1990, in a 10-1 friendly win away to Tarff Rovers. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 4th May, 1991, in a 2-0 defeat at home to Airdrieonians in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 5 occasions. Alan's club-list included Stenhousemuir, Cumbernauld United, Partick Thistle and East Stirlingshire. |
A young lad that was recruited to Firhill from the junior ranks and performed well at reserve team level without ever really being able to make the break through into the first team. Made a number of appearances during the course of the 90/91 season but was given a free transfer and later joined East Stirling. |
