Alan James Mackin was born on Friday, 29th July, 1955, in Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire.

The 6' 3 (13st 0lbs) defender signed for Benny Rooney's Thistle in January, 1985, having most recently been with Falkirk.

Aged 29, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 19th January, 1985, in a 4-0 win away to Brechin City in the SFL First Division.

Alan scored his only goal for Thistle on Saturday, 19th April, 1986, in a 2-1 defeat away to Forfar Athletic in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 13th September, 1986, in a 5-2 defeat at home to Morton in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 33 occasions.

Alan's club-list included Kilwinning Rangers, Dumbarton, Renfrew, Queen's Park, Motherwell, Falkirk, Morton, Partick Thistle, East Stirlingshire, Alloa Athletic, Queen of the South and Clyde.
