Alan Kay |
Alan Kay was born on Wednesday, 2nd August, 1961, in Glasgow. The 5' 11 (10st 12lbs) defender signed for Bertie Auld's Thistle on Tuesday, 25th July, 1978, having most recently been with Scotland Boys Club. Aged 16, he made his debut appearance on Monday, 31st July, 1978, in a 3-1 defeat away to East Kilbride Thistle in a Benefit match. Alan scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 17th September, 1983, in a 2-0 win at home to Raith Rovers in the SFL First Division. He scored the last of his 3 goals on Saturday, 14th April, 1984, in a 2-1 defeat at home to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 5th May, 1984, in a 1-1 draw at home to Clydebank in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 84 occasions. Alan's club-list included Partick Thistle and Dumbarton. |
Wholehearted defender who joined the club from school in 1978. He made the breakthrough into the first team at the beginning of the 81/82 season, but did not appear regularly until the following season. Capable of playing either at fulI-back or centre-half. One of the few genuine Thistle fans to have played for the club in recent years. He was devastated when he was released at the end of 83/84 season. He joined Dumbarton in the Premier Division but his enthusiasm for the game was gone, and he eventually gave up the game. |
