2018-19 (Reserves)
The 144th season of Partick Thistle F.C.
scorers in CAPS • used subs in brackets
1. Mon-20-Aug-2018 [a] L1-4 Hibernian (SPFL Reserve League 1)
MP 1/9/2018. Line-up and scorer as yet unconfirmed but most likely was Stevenson, Duncanson, Rodden, Trialist, McIntyre, Eadie, FITZPATRICK, Wilson, Kemoe, Trialist, Watson. (Vezza, Renfrew.)
Development League champions Hibs showed their class and proved a handful for Thistle. A curling shot beat Stevenson (12). Fitzpatrick took a pass from Eadie and rounded the keeper to score for 1-1 (30). Report incomplete.
2. Mon-27-Aug-2018 [h] L1-4 Ross County (SPFL Reserve League 1)
MP 1/9/2018. Line-up and scorer as yet unconfirmed but most likely was Sneddon, Duncanson, Vezza, Trialist, McIntyre, Wilson, Fitzpatrick, Bannigan, Trialist, Ntambwe, WATSON. (Eadie, Walker, Kemoe.)
County went 1-up (1) and 2-up off the bar (8). Trialist No 9 went close but it remained 2-0 at h-t. He was unlucky again with a header (61) but Watson reduced the lead (66) but it was soon 3-1 via the pen spot. The final goal was a fantastic first-time strike (74) and left Thistle well beaten.
3. Mon-03-Sep-2018 [a] L0-3 Falkirk (SPFL Reserve League 1)
MP 22/9/2018. Stevenson, Duncanson, Scobie, McIntyre, Trialist, Wilson, Storer, Eadie, Kemoe, Fitzpatrick, Watson. (Vezza, Renfrew, Walker.)
Thistle's bright start was hindered by a lack of clear cut chances but when they were reduced to 10 men when Storer was sent off (foul and abusive language, 44) the task was beyond them. Falkirk nodded in the opener (56) and further goals 60 and 85 reflected the play.
4. Mon-10-Sep-2018 [a] L1-3 Kilmarnock (Scottish Reserve League Cup Group C - game 1)
MP 22/9/2018. Scullion, Renfrew, Cameron, Vezza, McIntyre, Reilly, WILSON, Eadie, Kemoe, Walker, Watson.
Plagued by injuries and the ban on U/16s in reserve football, Thistle had no outfield players on the bench. Thistle contained Kilmarnock until a shot through a ruck of players made it 1-0 (44). A looping header (53) and a third goal put the tie beyond reach although Wilson scored with a fine left foot shot late on.
5. Mon-24-Sep-2018 [h] W1-0 St Mirren (SPFL Reserve League 1)
MP 13/10/2018. Stevenson, McIntyre, Niang, Scobie, McCarthy, Wilson, Fitzpatrick, Eadie, Kemoe, Trialist, Melbourne. (WATSON, Galasso.) Lesser Hampden.
The first half was even in play and chances, the highlight being Stevenson's penalty save. Thistle grew in confidence after h-t. A quick throw-in caught St Mirren napping and a tap-in by Watson from a Melbourne cross (67) earned them their 1st League win in 18 games.
6. Mon-08-Oct-2018 [h] L2-8 Hibernian (Scottish Reserve League Cup Group C - game 2)
MP 13/10/2018. Stevenson, Eadie, Melbourne, McIntyre, Niang, McCarthy, Storer, NTAMBWE, Mutombo, WILSON, Galasso. (Kemoe.) Lesser Hampden.
Despite having five 1st XI players Thistle found themselves 4-down in 30 minutes. Ntambwe and Wilson made it 4-2 at h-t but there was no revival. Hibs ran all over Thistle in the second half, scoring 4 more. The sending off of Storer (56) as frustration set in didn't help.
7. Mon-29-Oct-2018 [a] D2-2 Dundee (SPFL Reserve League 1)
MP 10/11/2018. Stevenson, Renfrew, Trialist, Niang, Connor, Eadie, Fitzpatrick, Wilson, KEMOE, Galasso, Rodden. (WALKER, pen.)
Kemoe finished off a fine move, rounding the keeper (3). Thistle couldn't capitalise on their good play and in a rare attack Dundee were awarded a penalty. 1-1 at h-t. A ball off the crossbar was stabbed in (49) but a penalty by Walker when Fitzpatrick was fouled earned the draw. The least Thistle deserved.
8. Mon-12-Nov-2018 [a] L1-2 Heart of Midlothian (Scottish Reserve League Cup Group C - game 3)
MP 15/12/2018. Sneddon, Duncanson, Melbourne, Scobie, Niang, McIntyre, McCarthy, Ntambwe, Kemoe, Walker, FITZPATRICK. (Connor, Cameron.)
It was a drab 1st half. Ntambwe "scored" but ruled off-side was the only noteworthy comment. After making several chances, Hearts took the lead with Thistle caught on the break. A stunning 25-yarder by Fitzpatrick levelled things. Several chances were wasted and Hearts grabbed the winner in added time.
9. Mon-10-Dec-2018 [h] W2-1 Aberdeen (SPFL Reserve League 1)
MP 15/12/2018. Stevenson, Duncanson, Rodden, Niang, McIntyre, Eadie, STORER (2), Wilson, Kemoe, Galasso, Connor. (Trialist, Renfrew.) Lesser Hampden.
Storer's free-kick gave Thistle an early lead and he almost doubled it soon after. A similar free-kick put Aberdeen level (26). The 2nd half was more open and it was a Storer penalty when Robertson was fouled that won the points (54). He was sent off (2nd yellow, dissent) but Thistle held on to the points.

2018-19 Reserves summary notes

P20 W4 D3 L13 (0.75 ppg)

Historical PT Reserves average: 1.462 ppg (@ 22-Aug-2023)
  • The points-per-game measurements (ppg) above are calculated on the same principle as the first-team's all games category, and are based on 1 point for a draw and 3 points for a win across all eras.
  • Final League Position: 15th of 18, 15/51 pts. Each of the 18 teams played each other once, home or away, for a 17 match campaign.
  • Final League Cup Position: 4th of 4, 0/9 pts.
  • The “Development League” approach was abandoned but against a backdrop of continuing debate whether “Reserve League” football was a help or a hindrance to the development of young players, this season proved to be the last formal league competition in which Thistle participated and the penultimate one in Scotland for a number of seasons.
