The 141st season of Partick Thistle F.C.
scorers in CAPS • used subs in brackets
1. Sat-04-Jul-2015 [h] W2-1 East Stirlingshire (Friendly)
MP 21/7/2015. Waters, McInally, McMullin, Trialist, McLAREN, McCarthy, Trialist, DOCHERTY (D), Trialist, Trialist, McLaughlin. (Cullen, Lamont.) Grangemouth Stadium.
Thistle's youngsters started tentatively against a more physical side. Poot defending of a cross led to the opener. Docherty levelled on half-time. Superior fitness began to show and McLaren headed in at a corner for 2-1. Frantic defending followed but Thistle held on.
2. Tue-04-Aug-2015 [h] L2-5 St Johnstone (SPFL Development League)
MP 9/8/2015. Cullen, McInally, Penrice, Trialist, Seaborne, DOCHERTY (D), McDaid, Leyden, NISBET, Stevenson, Fraser. (McLaughlin, Lamont.)
All the action was after half-time. Fraser split the defence and Nisbet slotted home (46) but Cullen let a shot go through him for 1-1. Cullen was rounded for 2-1, poor defending led to the 3rd, a half-cleared corner was fired in from 25 yards and although Docherty scored, a fifth came from more poor central defending.
3. Tue-18-Aug-2015 [a] L0-3 Celtic (SPFL Development League)
MP 29/8/2015. Waters, McInally, Penrice, Trialist, Seaborne, Wilson, McDaid, Docherty (D), Nisbet, Leyden, Trialist. (Lamont, McMullin.)
Celtic had most of the play but they made few chances. A deflected shot fell kindly and was turned in (47). The ball was bundled in at a goalmouth stramash (54). Celtic relaxed somewhat for a spell and Thistle made some chances but a curling half-volley underlined the gulf in class.
4. Tue-01-Sep-2015 [h] W2-1 Falkirk (SPFL Development League)
MP 12/9/2015. Scully, Trialist, Penrice, Trialist, McMullin, WILSON, McInally, Docherty (D), NISBET, Leyden, Lamont. (McLaughlin, Lynn.)
Nisbet fired home the opener for a slender half-time lead. Sub McLaughlin tormented Falkirk after half-time and just as it looked another goal would come, it did - from the spot for 1-1. Falkirk played second fiddle to a fine performance however and Wilson timed his run to finish off a through ball for 2-1.
5. Tue-08-Sep-2015 [a] W4-2 Hibernian (SPFL Development League)
MP 12/9/2015. Waters, McINALLY, PENRICE, Trialist, McMULLIN, Leyden, Lamont, Docherty (D), Nisbet, Trialist, McLaughlin. (Higgins.) (1 og.)
Hibs scored with their first attack, Waters getting a hand to the shot then a 30-yard cross by Penrice deceived everyone. Hibs hit the post twice before half-time. Lots of pressure was soaked up then McMullin's header and an og inside 2 mins made it 3-1. McInally finished a Leyden cut-back before Hibs' late consolation.
6. Tue-29-Sep-2015 [h] L0-2 Hamilton Academical (SPFL Development League)
MP 3/10/2015. Scully, McInally, Penrice, Whiteside, McMullin, Wilson, McDaid, Docherty (D), Nisbet, Leyden, Edwards. (McLaughlin, Lamont.)
Thistle were on top for most of this match. Chance after chance was made but it remained goalless until Accies scored with a low shot off the inside of the post. It could have gone either way until a curling effort from 20 yards beat Scully. Profligacy in front of goal was their downfall.
7. Tue-06-Oct-2015 [a] L1-3 Dundee (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Waters, McINALLY, Penrice, Whiteside, McMullin, Leyden, McDaid, Docherty (D), Nisbet, McLaughlin, Lamont. (Lynch, Lynn, Higgins.)
8. Tue-13-Oct-2015 [h] W1-0 Ross County (SPFL Development League)
MP 24/10/2015. Waters, McInally, Penrice, Whiteside, McMullin, Wilson, McDaid, DOCHERTY (D), Nisbet, Fraser, McLaughlin. (Trialist.)
Thistle started the better and McDaid and Fraser were prominent in attack. Nisbet went close at a corner then Docherty was first to react when the keeper parried a McLaughlin shot. The defence stood up to County pressure although McINALLY had to clear off the line before County missed several good chances to level.
9. Tue-20-Oct-2015 [a] L0-3 Aberdeen (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Waters, McInally, Penrice, Whiteside, McMullin, Leyden, Stevenson, Docherty (D), Nisbet, Fraser, McDaid. (Lamont.)
10. Tue-27-Oct-2015 [h] L0-1 Rangers (SPFL Development League)
MP 31/10/2015. Waters, McInally, Penrice, Whiteside, McMullin, Leyden, McDaid, Wilson, Nisbet, Docherty (D), Lamont. (McLaughlin.) At Airdrie FC.
A quiet first half saw chances wasted. The best fell to Rangers but was fired wide with just Waters to beat. Rangers shot into the stand then Docherty fired over the stand. Rangers scored on the break but 1-0 was rather sore on Thistle who matched Rangers but didn't test their keeper enough.
11. Tue-03-Nov-2015 [a] D3-3 Kilmarnock (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Waters, McInally, McMullin, LYNCH, Whiteside, Wilson, McDaid, Fraser, NISBET (2 pens), Docherty (D), Lamont. (McCarthy, Docherty (E).)
It was a ding-dong battle at Rugby Park where Kilmarnock took the lead (15) only for Lynch to equalise 2 minutes later. A Nisbet penalty put Thistle ahead (62) but a minute later if was 2-2. Kilmarnock looked to have won the points having scored on 78 mins but a second Nisbet pen (84) earned a point.
12. Tue-10-Nov-2015 [h] W3-1 Dunfermline Athletic (SPFL Development League)
MP 21/11/2015. Waters, McInally, McMULLIN, Lynch, Whiteside, Wilson, McDaid, Docherty (D), Nisbet, Docherty (E), LAMONT. (McCARTHY.)
Dunfermline curled a 25-yard free-kick past Waters (1). After half-time Lamont shot home a McDaid cut-back then McCarthy finished off a McInally pass for 2-1. Denied a penalty, the Pars lost a man (2nd yellow, protesting). Even so, the game was open. Dunfermline hit the post but McMullin bundled in a ricochet for 3-1.
13. Mon-16-Nov-2015 [a] W6-2 Heart of Midlothian (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Waters, McInally, Penrice, McMULLIN, Whiteside, Wilson, McDAID, DOCHERTY (D), NISBET (2), McLAUGHLIN, Lamont.
Hearts opened and finished the scoring (7 and 88) but in between Thistle ran out emphatic winners with goals 20, 31, 40, 59, 69, 76.
14. Tue-24-Nov-2015 [h] L1-2 St Mirren (SPFL Development League)

MP 5/12/2015. Waters, McInally, Penrice, McMullin, Whiteside, Leyden, McDaid, Docherty (D), Nisbet, Edwards, McLaughlin, (Lamont.)
There was an encouraging start for Thistle with McDaid going close. As Motherwell grew into the game, Thistle fell out of it. A shot from the edge of the box made it 1-0 (15) then a free header at a corner made it two (28). Lethargic play followed and on balance it might well have been worse.
16. Tue-08-Dec-2015 [h] L1-2 Dundee United (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Waters, McInally, Penrice, McMullin, Whiteside, Wilson, McDAID, Docherty (D), Nisbet, McLaughlin, Lamont. (McCarthy.) At Airdrie FC.

MP 19/12/2015. Waters, McInally, Penrice, Whiteside, McMullin, Leyden, McDAID, Docherty (D), NISBET, McLaughlin, Lamont. (Stokes.)
In thick fog, it was scrappy at first. Both teams struggled to make any impact. A shot by Docherty was parried and Nisbet finished off for 1-0 but a top corner strike made it 1-1 at half-time. It was all Inverness and they deservedly went ahead but after they should have scored again McDaid (unmarked) steered the ball in at the back post.
18. Mon-21-Dec-2015 [h] L0-1 Celtic (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Waters, Miller, Penrice, Frans, McMullin, Leyden, McDaid, Edwards, Nisbet, McCarthy, McInally. Airdrie FC.

MP 16/1/2016. Waters, McInally, Penrice, Whiteside, McMullin, Leyden, LAMONT, McCarthy, Duggan, DOCHERTY (D) (2 - 1 pen), McLaughlin. Airdrie FC.
Docherty hit the post (2) then Hibs broke up the park and took the lead. Another cut-back, another goal (22). A pen made it 3-0 at half-time. Docherty reduced the lead (55) but Hibs scored again. Docherty converted a penalty then Lamont made it 4-3 but Hibs scored to take the points in an 8-goal thriller.
21. Tue-26-Jan-2016 [a] L2-3 Hamilton Academical (SPFL Development League)
MP 31/1/2016. Scully, Stokes (I), Penrice, Lynch, McMullin, Leyden, Duggan, WILSON (D), NISBET, Smith, Stokes (J). (Kelly, Wilson (C), Waters.)
Hamilton scored (18) but Wilson levelled (23). It was 2-1 at half-time then Nisbet put Thistle back level again. McMullin scuffed a shot off the line that was picked up by Scully. The ref deemed it a pass-back and Accies scored from the free-kick. Scully was sent off (dissent). McMullin was sent off (2nd yellow) late on.
22. Wed-03-Feb-2016 [h] D1-1 Dundee United (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Waters, McInally, Penrice, Lynch, Whiteside, Leyden, LAMONT, Wilson, NISBET, Fraser, German. (Docherty (D), McLaughlin.) Clyde FC.
23. Tue-09-Feb-2016 [a] L1-2 Ross County (SPFL Development League)
MP 23/2/2016. Waters, McInally, Penrice, Lynch, McMullin, Leyden, Lamont, Docherty (D), NISBET, McCarthy, McLaughlin. (Stokes (J).)
The first half was even, the best chance being when County hit the post. Good goalkeeping kept Thistle from scoring until Nisbet swept home a Penrice pass (57). County scored soon after then a back post header put them ahead. Thistle had been the better side but losing poor goals was their undoing.
24. Tue-16-Feb-2016 [h] D1-1 Aberdeen (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Waters, McInally, Penrice, Lynch, Whiteside, Leyden, Lamont, McCarthy, German, DOCHERTY (D) (pen), McLaughlin. (Stokes (J), Docherty (E), Nisbet.) At Airdrie FC.
25. Mon-22-Feb-2016 [a] W3-0 Rangers (SPFL Development League)
MP 8/3/2016. Cullen, McInally, Penrice, Lynch, Whiteside, Wilson, Lamont, Leyden, NISBET, Docherty (D), McLAUGHLIN. (McCarthy.) (1 og.)
Rangers were the better side early on but without troubling Cullen. Thistle got going and took the lead when Nisbet's shot was parried and McLaughlin finished off (28). An og minutes into the 2nd half doubled the league then Docherty spun on the edge of the box and slipped in Nisbet for a low shot.
26. Wed-09-Mar-2016 [h] W2-1 Kilmarnock (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Cullen, McInally, Penrice, Lynch, Whiteside, Leyden, LAMONT, DOCHERTY (D), Nisbet, McCarthy, McLaughlin. (Stokes (J).) Clyde FC.
27. Sun-13-Mar-2016 [h] L0-2 FC Edmonton (Friendly)
2.00pm, New Tinto Park. Was originally going to be played behind closed doors, but that was relaxed and around 200 were in attendance.
Penants were swapped in this low-key 'club international' friendly. The 'Eddies', on a 4 match pre-season tour of Scotland and North England, imposed their physicality on the young Thistle team throughout the match, and came out on top with a 2-0 victory thanks to fine strikes from Nik Ledgerwood (18) and Jake Keegan (47). Good goalkeeping kept the scoreline respectable.
28. Tue-15-Mar-2016 [a] L1-4 Dunfermline Athletic (SPFL Development League)
MP 2/4/2016. Cullen, McInally, Penrice, Whiteside, Lynch, Wilson, Lamont, Leyden, McLAUGHLIN, Docherty (D), McCarthy. (Stokes (I), Higgins, Stokes (J).)
A series of corners proved fruitless then Thistle fell behind when poor marking was punished (15). The rest of the half belonged to Thistle but they couldn't find an equaliser. Poor play out from the back was punished for 2-0. A curling shot by McLaughlin from 20 yards gave some hope but 2 more goals saw Thistle well beaten.
29. Tue-22-Mar-2016 [h] W2-0 Heart of Midlothian (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Cullen, McInally, Penrice, Lynch, McMullin, Wilson, Leyden, DOCHERTY (D), NISBET, German, McCarthy. (Lamont, Higgins, McLaughlin.) At Airdrie FC.

MP 5/4/2016. Cullen, McInally, Penrice, Lynch, McMullin, Wilson, Lamont, McCarthy, NISBET, McLAUGHLIN, Stokes (J). (Higgins, Eadie, Stokes (I).)
Thistle were denied by a goal line clearance then Wilson hit the post. McLaughlin teed up Nisbet for 1-0. It had been all Thistle but a 30-yarder just on half-time made it 1-1. McLaughlin calmly finished off a back-heel by Nisbet for the winner but it was a case of defending until the end.
31. Wed-06-Apr-2016 [h] L1-2 Motherwell (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Cullen, McInally, Penrice, Lynch, McMullin, McCarthy, Lamont, Leyden, Nisbet, Docherty, McLAUGHLIN. Airdrie FC.
32. Tue-12-Apr-2016 [a] L2-3 Dundee United (SPFL Development League)
MP 23/4/2016. Cullen, McInally, McMullin, Lynch, Whiteside, Wilson, Lamont, McCarthy, NISBET, Docherty, McLAUGHLIN. (Stokes (J), Fleming, Higgins.)
Thistle made all the early running but United went ahead but Nisbet slipped the ball past the keeper for 1-1. It was 2-1 early in the 2nd half but on the break McLaughlin tapped home a rebounded Nisbet shot for 2-2 (70). The winner came soon after.
33. Tue-19-Apr-2016 [h] D2-2 Inverness Caledonian Thistle (SPFL Development League)
MP 30/4/2016. Cullen, McInally, Fleming, Lynch, Whiteside, Leyden, Lamont, McCarthy, McLaughlin, Docherty, STOKES (J). (Penrice, Nisbet, Higgins.) (1 og.) At Airdrie FC.
A good start saw Stokes (J) head home the opener (8). Thistle had chances but Cullen was busy too. An og from McLaughlin's header doubled the lead (52). Both teams had chances then Cullen saved a penalty but a header at a corner (86) and a bundled rebound (88) made it 2-2.
34. Tue-26-Apr-2016 [a] L2-4 St Johnstone (SPFL Development League)
PTFC. Cullen, McInally, Penrice, Whiteside, McMullin, Leyden, Lamont, Docherty, NISBET, McLaughlin, Stokes (J). (Wilson, HIGGINS, Lynch.)
