scorers in CAPS • used subs in brackets

MP 6/8/2005. Arthur, Gibson (B), Haswell, Cassidy, CARTER, McCulloch, NICHOLAS, Gibson (J), STEWART, McGOLDRICK, FLEMING. (McCONALOGUE (2), Cameron.)
It was as comprehensive as the score suggests, indeed but for the woodwork, more so.
2. Tue-06-Sep-2005 [a] L0-4 Stenhousemuir (Reserve League West)
MP 24/9/2005. Stewart (C), McDevitt, Haswell, Cameron, Carter, Santala, Gibson (A), Strachan, McGoldrick, Stewart (M), Nicholas. (Brady, Kilgannon, McConalogue.)
A dreadful start to the league campaign and a night to forget.
3. Tue-27-Sep-2005 [h] L0-1 Gretna (Reserve League West)
MP 15/10/2005. Line-up as yet unsourced.
4. Mon-10-Oct-2005 [a] W2-0 Greenock Morton (Reserve League West)
MP 15/10/2005. Arthur, Snowdon, Gibson (B), Cassidy, Carter, Cameron, Gibson (A), NICHOLAS (pen), McCONALOGUE, McGoldrick, Strachan. (McDevitt, McCulloch, Stewart (M).)
At rain-soaked Cappielow Cameron had a "goal" disallowed but Nicholas was fouled and converted the penalty (27). Thistle had the best of things but it wasn't until McConalogue scored (84) that the scoreline resembled a fair reflection on play.
5. Tue-18-Oct-2005 [a] D2-2 Queen's Park (Reserve League West)
MP 25/10/2005. Arthur, McDevitt, Haswell, Cameron, Gibson (B), Cassidy, Gibson (A), NICHOLAS (pen), McCONALOGUE, Kilgannon, Strachan. (Stewart (M), McGoldrick.)
Thistle went 2-up with goals from a Nicholas penalty (6) and McConalogue (30) when he flicked home a Kilgannon cross. Queens hit the bar but Thistle stayed on top until the softest of soft penalties reduced the lead (41) then the made it 2-2 at half-time. The 2nd half was a stalemate with few chances going.
6. Tue-01-Nov-2005 [a] W2-1 Ayr United (Scottish Reserve League Cup 1st Round)
MP 12/11/2005. Arthur, Snowdon, Haswell, GIBSON (B), Carter, Craig, Cassidy, Gibson (A), McCONALOGUE, Nicholas, Strachan. (McDevitt. McGoldrick, Stewart (M).)
McConalogue put Thistle ahead (9). They had the best of the play but failed to take their chances and paid the penalty when Ayr levelled (55). The homesters missed a sitter to go ahead and a goal by Gibson retrieved the situation (77).
7. Tue-08-Nov-2005 [h] W3-2 Queen of the South (Reserve League West)
MP 12/11/2005. Arthur, McDevitt, Haswell, Snowdon, Carter, Cassidy, GIBSON (A), Gibson (B), McGOLDRICK, McCONALOGUE, Strachan. (Cameron, Stewart (M).)
It was no surprise when Gibson scored from 20 yards (26) because Thistle had dominated the play. Ex-JAG English levelled for Queens before half-time. McGoldrick headed home (48) but again Queens levelled (81) before McConalogue converted a Strachan cross (83).
8. Tue-29-Nov-2005 [a] L1-2 Hamilton Academical (Scottish Reserve League Cup Quarter Final)
MP 17/12/2005. Arthur, Gibson (B), Haswell, Snowdon, Carter, Cassidy, Gibson (A), Gibson (B), SANTALA, Strachan, Kilgannon. (Trialist, McDevitt, McGoldrick.)
A mistake by they keeper let in Santala for the opener (16). He "scored" twice more but was deemed off-side. The Hamilton keeper more than made up for his error with some fine saves to deny Santala. A poor second half saw Hamilton score twice and just about deserve the win.
9. Tue-06-Dec-2005 [a] L1-4 St Mirren (Reserve League West)
MP 17/12/2005. Trialist, McDevitt, Snowdon, Carter, Gibson (A), Cameron, Cassidy, Strachan, STEWART (M), Santala, McGoldrick. (Haswell.)
St Mirren went ahead (9) but Gibson set up Stewart for an equaliser a minute later. It was 2-1 just before half-time and two further goals in the second half underlined St Mirren's superiority.
10. Tue-13-Dec-2005 [h] W4-0 Albion Rovers (Reserve League West)
MP 17/12/2005. Arthur, McDevitt, Haswell, Snowdon, Carter, Craig, CAMERON, Cassidy, McGoldrick, STEWART (M), STRACHAN. (NICHOLAS (pen), Gibson (A), Dorrans.)
There was nothing much to report in the first half. A penalty converted by Nicholas when Dorans was fouled put Thistle ahead. Nicholas skipped past two defenders to set up Stewart for 2-0 then Strachan lobbed the advancing keeper before Cameron fired home a Dorrans cross (90).
11. Wed-21-Dec-2005 [h] L1-2 Queen's Park (Reserve League West)
MP 2/1/2006. Arthur, SNOWDON, McCulloch, Cassidy, Carter, Cameron, Nicholas, McGoldrick, Stewart (M), Strachan, Gibson (A). (McDevitt, McGoldrick.)
Good goalkeeping and poor finishing kept it goalless while Thistle were on top then Queens went ahead when a miscued cross deceived Arthur (38).A well-worked move produced a second goal (44). Snowdon headed in a McCulloch cross (66) but it wasn't enough. Thistle remained 3rd.
12. Tue-10-Jan-2006 [h] L0-1 St Mirren (Reserve League West)
MP 28/1/2006. Stewart (C), Snowdon, McCulloch, Brady, Carter, Craig, Gibson (A), Nicholas, Stewart (M), Roberts, Kilgannon. (Haswell, Cameron, McGoldrick.)
3rd v 2nd. St Mirren included several first-team players and a goal mid-way through the 2nd half won the points. It was largely a midfield battle with few chances. The goal came from a cross that should have been prevented.
13. Tue-17-Jan-2006 [h] W3-0 Stenhousemuir (Reserve League West)
MP 28/1/2006. Stewart (C), Snowdon, Haswell, Smyth, Carter, Hodge, Nicholas, Cameron, McGoldrick, ROBERTS (pen), Kilgannon. (Trialist, Gibson (J), STRACHAN (2).)
Thistle hit the bar twice and McGoldrick spurned an easy chance in the first half. All the goals came after half-time. Roberts scored from the spot after being hauled down (the keeper being red-carded). Two goals by Strachan increased the lead for a comfortable win.
14. Mon-06-Feb-2006 [h] W5-3 Ayr United (Reserve League West)
MP 11/2/2006. Stewart (C), Snowdon, Haswell, Brady, BOYD, Craig, NICHOLAS, Pronevych, McGOLDRICK, McCONALOGUE (2), Kilgannon. (Carter, Cameron.)
Ayr took the lead (22) but McConalogue headed in a Haswell cross (24). Ayr fired a penalty over the bar (27). McConalogue got his second (34) from the edge of the box then McGoldrick made it 3-1 at half-time. Two goals (the 2nd a pen) made it 3-3 but goals by Boyd and Nicholas earned the points (61 and 83).
15. Tue-21-Feb-2006 [a] L0-1 Albion Rovers (Reserve League West)
MP 14/3/2006. Stewart (C), Snowdon, Hodge, Brady, Craig, Pronevych, Trialist *, Cameron, McGoldrick, Gillies, Nicholas. *Trialist was Jose Quitongo.
On a freezing cold night the players toiled on the dodgy surface but ironically the winning goal was a cracker from 25 yards.
16. Mon-06-Mar-2006 [h] W2-0 Greenock Morton (Reserve League West)
MP 14/3/2006. Stewart (C), Snowdon, McCulloch, Brady, Smyth, Hodge, Trialist *, GILLIES, NICHOLAS, Pronevych, Kilgannon. (McGoldrick, Carter, Cameron.) *Trialist was Jose Quitongo.
Quitongo set up Gillies from 20 yards to open the scoring from 20 yards. Luck played a part in the second goal when a header by Pronevych going wide was forced in by Nicholas.
17. Wed-29-Mar-2006 [a] D1-1 Gretna (Reserve League West)
MP 1/4/2006. Stewart (C), Snowdon, Kilgannon, Pronevych, Carter, Craig, Quitongo, Cameron, Trialist *, Trialist, McGoldrick. (Strachan, Roberts, Nicholas.) *Trialist was Ian Harty.
Trialist No 9 gave Thistle the lead (18) converting a Kilgannon cross. Stewart had a string of fine saves as eventual champions Gretna enjoyed most of the attacking play. The pattern continued after half-time. Thistle missed a few chances then Gretna scored (83).
18. Mon-10-Apr-2006 [a] L1-4 Ayr United (Reserve League West)
MP 22/4/2006. Stewart (C), Snowdon, KILGANNON, Cameron, Trialist, McCulloch, Strachan, Pronevych, McGoldrick, Trialist, Quitongo. (Trialist, Trialist.)
Two goals in quick time put Thistle up against it but after a few wasted chances trialist No 10 set up Kilgannon with a neat one-two. A "goal" chalked off in mysterious circumstances robbed Thistle of an equaliser. Kilgannon missed a penalty then two more goals gave Ayr a flattering scoreline.
19. Tue-25-Apr-2006 [a] W1-0 Queen of the South (Reserve League West)
MP 6/5/2006. Stewart (C), Trialist, Hodge, Gibson (B), Carter, Gibson (J), McGoldrick, Trialist, Trialist, PRONEVYCH, Nicholas. (McCluskey, Trialist.)
A narrow but well deserved win to finish off the season. Queens had an outside chance of catching Gretna and played a number of senior players but a goal by Pronevych proved to be enough to take the points and dash their hopes.
