MP 26/8/1995. Cairns, Dinnie, Stirling, Smith, Turner, Archibald, Ayton, Curran, GIBSON (3), Adams, Ramsay. (Berney, Gormill, West.)
The league season got off to a cracking start for Gibson. A marvellous save denied him at first but soon after he scored with a deft flick close in (60). He fired in a Ramsay cross off a post (79) then he cut in and shot home from the corner of the box.
5. Thu-31-Aug-1995 [a] L2-4 Hibernian (Premier Reserve League)
MP 16/9/1995. Cairns, McKee, Stirling, Smith, Milne, Archibald, AYTON, DOCHERTY, Gibson, Curran, Ramsay. (West, Adams.)
Ayton's 20-yarder put Thistle ahead (2) but free headers (15 and 40) then a 20-yd drive put them 3-1 down (44). A penalty (46) and it was 4-1. Docherty scored at the second attempt off the keeper (48) then a stonewall pen was denied - Smith was red-carded for dissent.
6. Thu-07-Sep-1995 [a] D1-1 Falkirk (Premier Reserve League)
MP 16/9/1995. Cairns, McKee, Archibald, MacLeod, Tierney, Milne, Ayton, DOCHERTY, Gibson, Curran, Stirling.
A header at a corner looked to have given Falkirk a win but with time running out Docherty finished off a Gibson cross to earn a point.
7. Tue-12-Sep-1995 [h] D0-0 Motherwell (Premier Reserve League)
Source not recorded. Line-up as yet unsourced.
8. Tue-26-Sep-1995 [a] W3-2 Heart of Midlothian (Premier Reserve League)
MP 30/9/1995. Cairns, Turner, STIRLING, Smith, Archibald, MacLeod, Shepherd, Craig, Gibson, DOCHERTY, Curran. (Ayton, Adams.) (1 og.)
Stirling ran in to volley home a free-kick then on the half-hour Craig's cross was turned into the net for an og. Cairns touched a ball onto the bar and Turner cleared off the line on half-time. A 20-yard drive made it 2-1, Docherty headed in a Curran cross and Hearts scored at the death.
9. Mon-09-Oct-1995 [h] W1-0 Celtic (Premier Reserve League)
MP 14/10/1995. Cairns, Berney, Stirling, Curran, Archibald, West, Ayton, Docherty, GIBSON, Adams, Ramsay. (Gormill.)
Thistle soon settled and there were some fine performances against their more experience opponents. Two fine saves denied them the opener then Gibson fired a pen over the bar. He shrugged off a challenge as Thistle broke and scored the only goal (35). Cairns had two magnificent saves after half-time.
10. Wed-11-Oct-1995 [a] D0-0 Falkirk (Premier Reserve League)
MP 28/10/1995. Cairns, McKee, Stirling, Curran, McTaggart, Archibald, Ayton, Ramsay, Gibson, Adams, West. (Blackburn.)
It was a solid performance and despite the lack of goals there were some good performances. The best chance fell to McKee but he just couldn't get a cross from the left over the line. Cairns had some fines saves and his second consecutive clean sheet.
11. Tue-24-Oct-1995 [h] D3-3 Aberdeen (Premier Reserve League)
MP 11/11/1995. Cairns, Archibald, Pittman, Curran, Stirling, Turner, AYTON, Adams, GIBSON, CAMERON (pen), Ramsay. (West.)
Gibson crashed a 22-yarder off the bar but Aberdeen scored twice with a brilliant header and from a move dubiously off-side. A deflected shot made it 3 but Cameron scored from the spot (60), Gibson turned in a palmed save (65) and Ayton finished off a fine passing move (70).
12. Tue-31-Oct-1995 [a] L1-2 Motherwell (Premier Reserve League)
MP 25/11/1995. CRAIG. Line-up as yet unsourced.
Thistle were 2-down after 8 minutes - a tap-in and a fine sweeping move - but Craig rushed in to power head a Ramsay cross for 2-1. The fight-back ended there as Thistle faded, their recent form deserting them.
13. Thu-09-Nov-1995 [h] L1-3 Heart of Midlothian (Premier Reserve League)
MP 25/11/1995. CURRAN. Line-up as yet unsourced. The line-up also included Budinauckas (after his leg-break in Aug 1994) and trialist MacDonald who was signed after the game. Home fixture played at Shotts Bon Accord FC.
Hearts had a number of 1st XI regulars playing and took a 2-goal lead. That's how it remained until near the end when Curran made it look more respectable.
14. Tue-14-Nov-1995 [a] L0-1 Celtic (Premier Reserve League)
DR 15/11/1995. Line-up as yet unsourced.
15. Mon-27-Nov-1995 [a] W3-2 Raith Rovers (Scottish Reserve League Cup 2nd Round)
MP 2/12/1995. Hutton, McKee, Stirling, Macdonald, Archibald, Milne, SMITH, CURRAN, GIBSON, Adams, Ayton. (West.)
Hutton kept it goalless then Thistle Smith volleyed home (20). A 30-yarder by Curran made it 2-0. A mistake by Hutton led to an Archibald og (54). With 3 Rovers players lying injured, Gibson scored controversially for 3-1 (82) then a header from a free-kick made it 3-2 (86).
16. Wed-29-Nov-1995 [h] L0-1 Raith Rovers (Premier Reserve League)
MP 26/12/1995. Hutton, McKee, Stirling, Macdonald, Archibald, Milne, Ayton, Craig, Adams, MacLeod, McDonald. (West, Ramsay.) Home fixture played at Shotts Bon Accord FC.
Thistle dominated for long spells but there was no clinical finish evident. In addition the Rovers keeper was inspired and had a series of excellent saves. Against the run of play Thistle fell behind to an angled drive across Hutton (46). Adams hit the post soon after.
17. Mon-18-Dec-1995 [a] W2-1 Aberdeen (Premier Reserve League)
APJ 19/12/1995 and MP 1/1/1996. Hutton, MacDonald, Stirling, McCrindle, Archibald, Milne, ADAMS (2), Ramsay, McMahon, Curran, Ayton. (Berney.)
Top v bottom. McMahon nodded down a header for Adams to slam home from 6 yards (7). Poor defending at a corner and it was 1-1 (14). Against the run of play Adams lobbed the hesitant keeper (30). Ayton hit the bar late on but Hutton's performance made sure of the points.
18. Wed-27-Dec-1995 [a] D1-1 Hibernian (Premier Reserve League)
MP 6/1/1996. Hutton, Milne, Stirling, Macdonald, Tierney, Archibald, Ramsay, West, McMAHON, Curran, Ayton. (McCrindle.)
Shooting down the Easter Road slope, Thistle got on top and McMahon nodded in after an Ayton shot was parried (25). Hibs, hardly seen in attack, hit the bar from 25 yards then Hutton saved a penalty with his feet. The 2nd half was even and Hibs scored (75).
19. Thu-11-Jan-1996 [a] D2-2 Heart of Midlothian (Premier Reserve League)
MP 3/2/1996. Cairns, McKee, Stirling, Smith, Archibald, AYTON, Macdonald, Trialist, Trialist, GIBSON, Ramsay.
A 22-yard free-kick by Stirling rattled the post and Ayton tapped the ball into the empty net. Hearts were more aggressive after half-time and equalised (47) with a looping header. Another Stirling free-kick was spilled by the keeper and Gibson headed in but Hearts scored again for 2-2.
20. Wed-17-Jan-1996 [h] D0-0 Motherwell (Premier Reserve League)
MP 3/2/1996. Hutton, McKee, Stirling, McTaggart, Archibald, Ayton, Adams, Gibson, Macdonald, Curran, Ramsay. Home fixture played at Shotts Bon Accord FC.
Neither side managed to create any real chances in this match and it took until 89 minutes for Hutton to make a save low down to counter Motherwell's first real attempt. The score meant Motherwell had drawn 9 of their 11 matches 0-0. Little wonder it was goalless.
21. Thu-25-Jan-1996 [h] D1-1 Aberdeen (Premier Reserve League)
MP 10/2/1996. Cairns, McKee, Stirling, Chisholm, Archibald, MacLeod, ADAMS, Curran, Gibson, Ramsay, Ayton. Home fixture played at Shotts Bon Accord FC.
The first half was goalless but there were some near things and good performances in a troublesome wind. With the wind Aberdeen were more dangerous and a low shot across Cairns put them ahead (47) but a good move down the right was finished off by Adams after the keeper had parried a Ramsay shot.
22. Mon-12-Feb-1996 [a] W4-2 Kilmarnock (Premier Reserve League)
MP 2/3/1996. Cairns, McKEE, Trialist, Turner, Milne, Ayton, Adams, GIBSON (2), McCue, Curran, Stirling. (Trialist) (1 og.)
Down 1-0 at half-time, Thistle's fortunes improved with the wind in the second half. McKee's crosses were finished off by a defender og and Gibson then he repeated the move from a McCue cross for 3-1. Killie pulled one back, Milne cleared off the line then a 20-yard volley by McKee made sure.
23. Tue-27-Feb-1996 [a] W2-1 Celtic (Premier Reserve League)
MP 30/3/1996. McCUE, McWILLIAMS. Line-up as yet unsourced.
24. Thu-29-Feb-1996 [h] W2-1 Raith Rovers (Premier Reserve League)
MP 30/3/1996. AYTON, CURRAN. Line-up as yet unsourced. Home fixture played at Shotts Bon Accord FC.
25. Mon-04-Mar-1996 [a] L1-2 Raith Rovers (Premier Reserve League)
MP 30/3/1996. CURRAN. Line-up as yet unsourced.
26. Fri-08-Mar-1996 [h] L0-1 Hibernian (Premier Reserve League)
MP 30/3/1996. Line-up as yet unsourced.
27. ?Mon-11-Mar-1996 [h] D0-0 Rangers (Premier Reserve League)
MP 30/3/1996. Nominal date. Line-up as yet unsourced.
28. Mon-18-Mar-1996 [a] W3-0 Stirling Albion (Scottish Reserve League Cup Quarter Final)
MP 30/3/1996. McWILLIAMS (2), McCUE. Line-up as yet unsourced. Line up also included Milne, Henderson.
Two quality finishes by McWilliams set Thistle on their way then one of his passes set up McCue for a 3-0 lead at half time. The second half was largely one-way traffic. McWilliams hit the bar and there were other near things but it remained 3-0.
29. Thu-21-Mar-1996 [h] D1-1 Falkirk (Premier Reserve League)
MP 30/3/1996. McCUE. Line-up as yet unsourced. Home fixture played at Shotts Bon Accord FC.
A disappointing result. McCue gave Thistle the lead with a neat finish but after half-time, with the wind, Thistle failed to make any impression and Falkirk took a point with a 25-yard free-kick.
30. Mon-25-Mar-1996 [h] W2-1 Heart of Midlothian (Premier Reserve League)
MP 9/4/1996. AYTON, ADAMS. Line-up as yet unsourced. Home fixture played at Shotts Bon Accord FC.
Thistle took the match to a much more experienced Hearts side. Adams hit the bar and a Ramsay strike was cleared off the line. Hearts had their chances too but Budinauckas was in fine form. Adams ran through to score then Budinauckas was out-jumped for 1-1 but a Fine Ayton goal earned the points.
31. Wed-27-Mar-1996 [h] D1-1 Hibernian (Premier Reserve League)
MP 9/4/1996. McCUE. Line-up as yet unsourced.
Hibs took the lead towards the end of the first half with a fine strike from the edge of the box. McCue finished off an Adams pass to make it 1-1 but despite having the better chances Thistle couldn't find a winner.
32. Mon-01-Apr-1996 [h] D1-1 Kilmarnock (Premier Reserve League)
DR 2/4/1996. Line-up and scorer as yet unsourced.
33. Thu-04-Apr-1996 [a] D0-0 Motherwell (Premier Reserve League)
DR 5/4/1996. Line-up as yet unsourced.
34. Wed-10-Apr-1996 [a] L1-2 Aberdeen (Premier Reserve League)
MP 27/4 and APJ 11/4/1996. MacDONALD. Line-up as yet unsourced.
At a foggy Pittodrie Thistle went behind (2) but they played some good football and a draw looked on the cards (Macdonald having equalised) but a wonderful strike 5 minutes from time won the points for the Dons.
35. Mon-15-Apr-1996 [h] D2-2 Rangers (Premier Reserve League)
MP 27/4/1996. AYTON, STIRLING. Line-up as yet unsourced. Line-up also included McCrindle, Budinauckas. Home fixture played at Shotts Bon Accord FC.
An Ayton shot from 22 yards slipped through the keeper's fingers for 1-0 then Manager MacLeod missed a good chance. A strong claim for a pen was denied then Rangers levelled with a deflected shot. Rangers went ahead firing home a loose ball but Stirling equalised with a free-kick.
36. Fri-26-Apr-1996 [h] W3-2 Kilmarnock (Premier Reserve League)
DR 26/4/1996. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
37. Tue-30-Apr-1996 [h] L0-2 Celtic (Scottish Reserve League Cup Semi Final)
MP 12/5/1996. Cairns, McCrindle, McKee, Smith, Archibald, Ayton, Apiliga, Docherty, McCue, Gibson, Ramsay. (Lauchlan, Dunn.)
Eagerly awaited but a disappointment. Most of the Celtic team had played for the 1st XI the same week and they were too good. A header put them ahead. Celtic were seldom pressed. A soft pen (re-taken) made it 2-0 then a fine save denied Ayton.
38. Wed-01-May-1996 [h] L2-3 Celtic (Premier Reserve League)
DR 2/5/1996. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
39. Fri-03-May-1996 [a] L0-1 Raith Rovers (Premier Reserve League)

MP 12/5/1996. Cairns, McCrindle, Ramsay, McTaggart, Archibald, Ayton, Smith, MacDonald, Adams, McDonald, GIBSON (2). (Boyle, Apiliga.)
Thistle dominated from the start but couldn't take any of their chances in the first half. Adams set up Gibson to finish twice. He was denied a hat-trick by a good save from the keeper towards the end.
41. Fri-10-May-1996 [a] D1-1 Rangers (Premier Reserve League)
