| – Celtic missed an open goal in the opening seconds but it was only a reprieve. Future-JAG Chalmers shot high into the net (8) then Gibson and Glavin brought out fine saves by the Celtic keeper. A 30-yard strike through a ruck of players doubled the lead (39). Report only to half-time. |

| – Thornton had scored twice before a Rough error, a penalty and a header at a corner made it 3-2 at h-t. Johnston got 3, Glavin 1 and Divers 2 as stronger and fitter Thistle went up a gear before a late consolation for the Junior team. |
