| – Roxburgh had an early shot but it was punched clear. On the half-hour a shot by Lynn was dropped by the keeper but was cleared off the line. Airdrie's first real shot attempt on goal went just over (40). Report only to half-time. |

| – Walters prodded home a Lynn pass (11). It was all Thistle and Coulston doubled the lead from a Bustard pass (22). He scored again, this time from a pass by Lynn (35). Kilmarnock were hemmed in their own half. Report only to half-time. |

| – A lively Airdrie side found themselves confronting Thistle's off-side trap. McLindon went close with a header turned round the post but Airdrie were on top by the end of the first half, their No 11 shooting straight at Niven. Report only to half-time. |

| – Gallagher, Roxburgh and West were all denied by fine saves by the Hibs keeper. It was mostly Thistle but Hibs went close before Brownlie set up Lynn for the opener (26). Walters headed a second goal (53). Report incomplete. |

| – The trialist keeper slipped but recovered in time to prevent an opener for United (5) then a Divers effort was tipped over for a fruitless corner. The keeper failed to hold a header (28). Two minutes later it was 2-0 but Clarke then Divers levelled before half-time. Report only to half-time. |

| – Goals 15 and 25 set Rovers up nicely. A penalty right on half-time was all that Thistle could muster (taker unidentified). A 30-yard run and a fine pass to slip in the scorer (60 and a 4th goal soon after (the 2nd header of the match) put the game well out of Thistle's reach. |

| – Walters gave Thistle the lead (5) finishing off a Clarke cross but it was a false dawn although Clarke hit the keeper soon after. The Dons were stronger and much more experienced and led 3-1 at half-time. Report only to half-time. |

| – United started the better and Ritchie did well to save a fierce 20-yarder. Ten minutes later West cleared a shot by ex-JAG Hainey off the line. Thistle came more into it and had a few unproductive corners before the break. Report only to half-time. |

| – Ritchie dived full length to save in the first minute. A Ferguson shot at a corner beat the keeper but a defender cleared off the line. There were close things at both ends. Gibson rounded the keeper but his cut-back was cleared then another Thistle attempt was kicked off the line. Report only to half-time. |

| – Rovers took an early lead but Bone, Roxburgh and Cunningham put Thistle 3-1 up before Rovers levelled with goals either side of half-time. Thistle were the slicker team after half-time and deserved Lynn's winner. Bizarrely when he scored, he ran straight into the dug-out soon to be replaced by Ross. |
