– ET 14/8/1965. Gray, Closs, West, Cunningham, Gibb, Davidson, Gallagher, McLindon, Norman, Rae (W), DUNCAN. |
– A 20-yard shot beat Gray (14). When a cross from the right caught the Dunfermline defence flat-footed Duncan equalised with a header from 15 yards that looped over the keeper. Report only to h-t. |

– It was mostly St Johnstone but their forwards failed to take any of the chances they made. Towards the end of the half Thistle finally got into the game and Duncan went close when his effort was punched clear. Report only to h-t. |

– It only took Dunfermline two minutes to go ahead (a header from a free-kick). A first-timed shot at a corner doubled the lead (9) but Thistle made three good chances well saved and Mullen's header went just past A solo effort made it 3-0 (22). Report only to h-t. |

– Cunningham set up Conway to open for Thistle (4). They kept up the pressure and when Rae rounded the onrushing keeper he made it 2-0. A deflected shot by McLindon put Thistle well in charge by half-time. Report only to h-t. |

– There was no shortage of goalmouth action. Hainey's shot was parried, McLaughlin has some fine saves, Conway's shot beat the keeper but was cleared off the line, Rangers went close. McLaughlin pulled down a forward and Rangers converted the penalty (43). Report only to h-t. |

– Hainey capitalised on a mix-up in the Hearts defence and opened the scoring (9) then Conway converted a penalty for 2-0 (21). McLindon made it 3-0 on the half hour before Hearts pulled one back (40). Report only to h-t. |

– A goalmouth scramble provided Nuoranen with the opener (15) then a well taken goal by Brownlie two minutes later put Thistle 2-up. Rae shot home from 10 yards (25) for 3-0 at half-time. Report only to h-t. |

– McLaughlin had several fine saves but he was eventually beaten by a long free-kick. He was beaten again by a snap shot five minutes later then a header just on half-time made it 3-0. Sadly, given the final score, report only to h-t. |

– Play was even at first but once Celtic's experience began to show it was an uphill task. Future-JAG Divers rounded McLaughlin and shot into the empty net then a header five minutes later made it 2-0. Divers made it 3-0 (37). Report only to h-t. |

– Duncan headed in a Menzies cross (28) to cancel Aberdeen's early lead. 1-1 at half-time. The sequence of goals and Thistle scorers went unreported. The Aberdeen keeper (at fault with the2nd goal) made amends by saving a penalty. Thistle remained 3rd. |

– The Thistle defence was split open by a neat pass to put St Mirren ahead (7). They then missed a glorious chance to double the lead. Thistle had lots of the play but wasted numerous chances to level. Report only to h-t. |

– A low drive by Menzies put Thistle 1-up but Hamilton fought back and as defenders slithered in the snow (three of them were tricked) the ball was shot home. At least three good chances were wasted by Thistle before the break. Report only to h-t. |

– Thistle did most of the attacking but the forwards made heavy weather of a strong St Johnstone defence. The opener came in 25 minutes when McLindon's powerful drive (set up by Campbell's pass) put them ahead. Report only to h-t. |

– 4th v 3rd. A Conway shot had the Dundee keeper (future-JAG Arrol) in trouble and the resulting scramble saw him injure a hand. He had to go off. Ten-man Dundee fought on and two goals put them well ahead at the interval. Report only to h-t. |

– Brownlie put Thistle in front from a Gallagher cross (19) and four minutes later Gallagher increased the lead from close in then Kilmarnock just failed to finish off a fine move, the shot going narrowly past. Thistle went top. Report only to h-t. |

– In two minutes a ball from the left was nodded on by Conway and Brownlie finished off the move. Seven minutes later another cross from the left - this time for Hearts - was first timed past McLaughlin. Brownlie missed with a header approaching half-time. Report only to h-t. |

– Aberdeen took the lead (2) but a minute later Conway raced on to a Closs pass to draw Thistle level. Aberdeen were the better team and a header put them ahead (17). The keeper parried Ewing's shot and Conway tapped home (53) but another header earned the Dons the points (77). |
