ET 15/8/1964. Gray, Campbell, Muir, Gibb, McKinnon, Closs, Rae, McColl, Norman, Kerr, Gallagher. Scorers as yet unsourced.
Gray parried a penalty in the early minutes but the rebound was fired home. Otherwise, the first half was a scrappy affair with chances wasted at both ends. Report only to half-time.

A cross from the left was fired home to put Thistle behind (2) but Rae headed in the equaliser (24). Fine saves by the Celtic keeper prevented Thistle taking a deserved lead into the second half. Report only to half-time.

ET 29/8/1964. Newman, Campbell, Gibb, Ferguson, McKinnon, Stevenson, Rae, NORMAN, Cowan, Gallagher, KERR (2). Remaining scorer as yet unsourced. Final position: Thistle finished second behind Kilmarnock on goal average (3.3/1.4).
A blistering start saw the Hearts keeper make some fine saves to deny Thistle the lead then a deflected shot off a teammate wrong-footed Gray for the opener (7). Kerr levelled with a header (20) then Norman scored (35). Kerr got his second 5 minutes from half-time. Report only to half-time.

ET 5/9/1964. Gray, Campbell, West, Ferguson, McKinnon, Tinney, Rae, Norman, Staite, Kerr, Gallagher. Scorers as yet unsourced.
A disastrous start saw Clyde score within a minute. Five minutes later the scorer ran from half-way and shot narrowly wide. Thistle do not appear to have made any impact. Clyde had a man carried off just on half-time after a clash with Ferguson. Report only to half-time.

The first half was end to end with both teams going all out for the opener. Rangers had the ball in the net but the goal was disallowed for no obvious reason. Report only to half-time.

A perfect cross by Rainey was finished off by Rae for the opener (12) then a brilliant save denied Gallagher. Aberdeen drew level (35) then approaching half-time Closs was carried off injured. Report only to half-time.

ET 10/10/1964. Weir, Campbell, West, McColl, Staite, Stevenson, EWING, Gallagher, DAVIDSON, Kerr, Rainey. Remaining scorers as yet unsourced.
Weir saved the day with a triple save in a matter of seconds then Ewing put Thistle ahead (23). Just on half-time Davidson barged his way through to double the lead. Report only to half-time.

ET 17/10/1964. Weir, Gibb, West, McColl, Staite, Stevenson, Rae, Ferguson, KERR, Gallagher, Rainey.
Ferguson, Kerr and Gallagher all had efforts saved expertly by the Thirds keeper. Staite was ordered off (22). Thirds hit the bar with Weir beaten but it remained goalless at half-time. Report only to half-time.
15. Sat-24-Oct-1964 [a] L1-3 Motherwell (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 24/10/1964. Weir, Campbell, West, Gibb, Staite, Stevenson, Rae, Norman, KERR, Closs, Rainey.
After Gibb had tripped a forward, Motherwell took the lead with the penalty (15). Thistle tried to get on level terms but a series of corners was all they could muster. Report only to half-time.
16. Sat-31-Oct-1964 [h] L0-1 Dunfermline Athletic (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 31/10/1964. Gray, Muir, West, Ferguson, Campbell, Stevenson, Rae, Fleming, Rainey, Norman, Newman.
A smartly taken free-kick by 2nd top Dunfermline proved to be the only goal of the match (8). "Newman" was unlucky when he hit the post with a flying header. Later, he was brought down in the box but Ferguson missed the penalty. Report only to half-time.
17. Sat-07-Nov-1964 [a] W2-1 Arbroath (Scottish 2nd XI Cup 2nd Round)
AH (13/11/1964). Weir, Campbell, Gibb. McColl, McKinnon, Closs, MUIR, Davidson, RAINEY, Kerr, Gallagher. First round bye.
Goals by Muir (12) and Rainey (30) appeared to give Thistle a commanding lead at half-time but the "Young Marrons" (unbeaten this season) had Thistle under pressure and resorting to dubious tactics. They reduced the lead (46) and had some near misses but they couldn't find a leveller.
18. Sat-14-Nov-1964 [a] W2-1 St Johnstone (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 14/11/1964. Weir, Campbell, Muir, Gibb, McKinnon, Stevenson, Rainey, CUNNINGHAM (2), Kerr, Closs, Kilpatrick.
Cunningham fired the opener high into the roof of the net (15) and it remained 1-0 until his bullet header just on half-time doubled the lead. Rainey was injured in a violent clash with the Saints keeper and was helped off. Report only to half-time.

ET 21/11/1964. Gray, Campbell, Muir, Gibb, McKinnon, McColl, COWAN, RAE, KERR, Closs, Kilpatrick.
Thistle had Dundee on the back foot from the start and after Kerr had hit the post it was no surprise when Cowan opened the scoring from 18 yards (15). Rae made it 2-0 approaching half-time. Report only to half-time.
20. Sat-05-Dec-1964 [h] W3-1 St Mirren (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 5/12/1964. Gray, Campbell, Muir, Gibb, McKinnon, Closs, Cowan, Rae, Kerr, Norman, Kilpatrick. Scorers as yet unsourced.
Kerr sent Cowan through but he hit the post with the goal at his mercy then the St Mirren keeper dropped a shot on the goal line. It was all Thistle but they couldn't find the opener thanks to a fine display by the Saints keeper. Report only to half-time.
21. Sat-12-Dec-1964 [a] W2-1 Celtic (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 12/12/1964. Weir, Campbell, Muir, Gibb, McKinnon, McColl, Cowan, Rae, Kerr, Norman, Kilpatrick. Scorers as yet unsourced.
Thistle had all the early play and but for the Celtic keeper might easily have gone ahead. Gradually Celtic came into it and Weir had some work to do to keep it goalless at half-time. Report only to half-time.

ET 19/12/1964. Weir, Campbell, Tinney, McColl, Staite, Stevenson, Gallagher, Rae, KERR (pen), Rainey, Kilpatrick. (1 og.)
Rainey was upended in the box and Kerr converted the pen (2). Hibs equalised 5 minutes later then a poor pass-back by McColl was punished. Soon after it was 3-1 but an og reduced the lead before Hibs scored again (40). Report only to half-time.

ET 2/1/1965. Weir, Closs, Tinney, McColl, Staite, Rainey, RAE, Fleming, Kerr, Norman, Gallagher. (1 og.)
Thistle had some early chances then Rae scrambled home a cross by Fleming (10). On 16 minutes a lob by Tinney was diverted past the keeper as the defender tried to clear. Rangers reduced the lead from the spot (32, foul by Staite). Report only to half-time.
25. Sat-09-Jan-1965 [h] W8-1 Falkirk (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 9/1/1965. Weir, Closs, Tinney, McColl, McKinnon, Rainey, Gallagher, RAE (T) (2), CUNNINGHAM (2), RAE (W) (3), FLEMING.
A penalty (foul by Tinney) was converted to give Falkirk an early lead. Two minutes later Rae equalised from a Cunningham pass. His shot was fumbled in by the keeper (27) and his header made it 3-1 (44). Report only to half-time.

ET 16/1/1965. Weir, Closs, Tinney, McColl, McKinnon, STAITE, GALLAGHER, Cunningham, Kerr, NORMAN, Rainey.
Gallagher ran on to a Kerr pass and gave Thistle the lead from close range (7) but a well taken goal drew Aberdeen level (17). Thistle had the best of things but failed to capitalise with goals. Report only to half-time.

Kilmarnock had all the early play. Their No 9 shot straight at Weir twice then they skimmed the bar. Thistle grew into the game however and Rae shot home a cross from the left (32). Killie levelled (44). Report only to half-time.

A slip by McKinnon let in Hearts for the opener (13). Soon after they missed a great chance to double the lead. Cowan was prominent but the forwards struggled with Hearts' off-side trap. A blunder by the keeper almost let Staite in but the chance wasn't taken. Report only to half-time.
30. Sat-13-Feb-1965 [h] W2-1 Third Lanark (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 13/2/1965. Weir, Closs, Tinney, Gibb, McKinnon, Staite, GALLAGHER, Rae, McLindon, Norman, Kilpatrick. Remaining scorer as yet unsourced.
Thirds had the early pull but their forwards lacked a finish. A blunder when Thistle waited for an off-side whistle that never came let Thirds in for 1-0. When the keeper punched out a McLindon cross Gallacher returned it with interest.(27). Report only to half-time.

Rainey shaved a post and Norman went close before neat interpassing between Gibb and Gallagher saw the former open the scoring. Norman doubled the lead nine minutes later. Niven had some saves to make before Kerr scored from the spot. Report only to half-time.
