– FFP 30/9/1961. Freebairn, Wright (D), Thomson, Wright (A), Staite, Closs, Gourlay, Kerr (J), Hainey, KERR (P), EWING. |
– Kerr ran through to give Thistle the lead (2) then a clever finish by Ewing put them further ahead (5). – ET 4/11/1961. Younger, Wright (D), Thomson, Wright (A), Harvey, Ewing (R), Gourlay, Whitelaw, Hainey, Kerr (P), Kerr (J). |

– ET 11/11/1961. Freebairn, Wright, THOMSON, Staite, Harvey, Closs, Williamson, Kerr (J), KERR (P) (2), WHITELAW (2), Gourlay. |
– Thistle leapfrogged Hearts in mid-table with this big win - once they worked out Hearts' new-fangled 4-2-4 system. Whitelaw and the two Kerrs had gone close before Whitelaw made it 1-0 (17). Kerr (P) made it 2-0 (44). Report only to half-time. |

– Hibs hit the post and Freebairn cleared the rebound (9). Overall it was nervy, cagey football in the mud. ET livened up and Whitelaw shook off a challenge and scored from 20 yards (95) but a header at a free-kick (98) meant another replay. The remaining 22 mins were towsy. |

– ET 2/12/1961. Freebairn, Muir, Wright (D), Wright (A), Staite, Closs, Kerr (P), Kerr (J), Hainey, Whitelaw, Gourlay. Scorer as yet unsourced. |
– It was end to end stuff and after a series of near misses, Hainey went closest and brought the keeper to his knees. Freebairn had some good saves then Hainey went close from distance. Celtic hit the bar approaching half-time. Report only to half-time. |
24. Sat-16-Dec-1961 [a] L1-3 St Johnstone (Scottish Reserve League) |
– ET 16/12/1961. Freebairn, Wright (D), Thomson, Ewing, Staite, Closs, Kerr (P), KERR (J), Hainey, Whitelaw, Gourlay. |
– A free-kick from outside the box put Saints ahead (25). They did most of the attacking but their finishing was poor. Thistle looked the better moving team. Off-side robbed Gourlay of an equaliser but Kerr (J) levelled (42). Report only to half-time. |
25. Sat-23-Dec-1961 [h] W4-2 Dundee United (Scottish Reserve League) |

– ET 2/1/1962. Freebairn, Muir, Thomson, FERGUSON, Staite, Closs, Williamson, Cowan, Hainey, Whitelaw, McBeth. Remaining scorer as yet unsourced. |
– A long-range effort was parried by Freebairn but the loose ball was shot home (7). Cowan had two good tries then a Rangers 30-yard run and shot was well off the mark. A 30-yarder by Ferguson was initially saved but the keeper slipped and the ball went in (36). Report only to half-time. |
27. Sat-06-Jan-1962 [a] D3-3 Motherwell (Friendly) |
– ET. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced. |

– FFP 20/1/1962. Young, Muir, Thomson, Closs, Staite, Wright (D), Wright (A), Kerr, Hainey, Newman, Gourlay. |
– The game started at a cracking pace with chances and saves at both ends - Wright and "newman" for Thistle and Young in good form. The half was exciting but goalless until Rovers scored what proved to be the winner (43). Thistle piled on the pressure after half-time by to no avail. |
29. Sat-20-Jan-1962 [a] L2-4 Aberdeen (Scottish Reserve League) |
– ET 20/1/1962. Young, Muir, Thomson, Closs, Staite, Ewing, WILLIAMSON, Kerr, Hainey, Tinney, WHITELAW. |
– Thistle were the better team and it was no surprise when they went ahead through Williamson (17). Whitelaw doubled the lead (25) but Aberdeen got back into the game (43). Report only to half-time. |
30. Fri-26-Jan-1962 [a] D2-2 Hibernian (Scottish 2nd XI Cup 2nd Round 2nd replay) |

– Thistle threw away a 2-goal lead. A defensive mix-up let Gourlay in to fire home (30). The keeper couldn't hold a Whitelaw shot and someone scored (55). Hibs reduced the lead with a header on the hour. An equaliser (80) and goalless ET meant another replay. |
31. Fri-02-Feb-1962 [a] L1-3 Hibernian (Scottish 2nd XI Cup 2nd Round 3rd replay) |
– EEN 3/2/1962. Freebairn, Muir, Thomson, Wright, Staite, Ewing, Gourlay, Closs, Kerr, Hainey, WHITELAW. |
– A decision after 320 minutes' play. Hibs went ahead (4). Thistle, with a revamped forward line, made no impression on a solid Hibs defence. 2-down on the hour, Thistle fought on and Whitelaw scored but after several other attacks had broken down, Hibs scored (87). |
32. Sat-03-Feb-1962 [h] D2-2 Dunfermline Athletic (Scottish Reserve League) |
– ET 3/2/1962. Young, Muir, Thomson, Wright, English, Staite, Newman, Kerr, Hainey, Tinney, WHITELAW. Remaining scorer as yet unsourced. |
– It could have been 1-1 inside 2 minutes. A cross by "newman" was netted by Whitelaw (27) but two minutes later it was 1-1 - also from a cross. The Pars took the lead (36). Report only to half-time. |
33. Sat-10-Feb-1962 [a] L0-3 Falkirk (Scottish Reserve League) |
– ET 10/2/1962. Young, Wright, Thomson, Closs, Staite, Whitelaw, Williamson, Kerr, Gourlay, Tinney, Coyle. |
– After Falkirk had taken the lead (9) Thistle's shot-shy forwards failed to take their chances. Gourlay went closest but most moves broke down approaching the 18-yard box. 2-down on the half-hour Thomson joined the forwards and went agonisingly close twice. Report only to half-time. |

– ET 24/2/1962. Ramsay, Wright (D), Thomson, Wright (A), Staite, Ewing (R), Williamson, Kerr, Gourlay, Tinney, COYLE. |

– ET 3/3/1962. Ramsay, Wright, Thomson, Staite, Harvey, Ewing (R), Williamson, Kerr, Gourlay, Tinney, Coyle. Scorer as yet unsourced. |

37. Sat-10-Mar-1962 [a] L1-5 Heart of Midlothian (Scottish Reserve League) |
– ET 10/3/1962. Gray, Wright (D), Thomson, Newman, Harvey, Wright (A), Williamson, Cowan, Gourlay, Whitelaw, Coyle. Scorer as yet unsourced. |
– As the score suggests Thistle never got into this match at all. They trailed 2-0 at half-time and Hearts rattled in 3 more in the second half. Report only to half-time. |
38. Sat-17-Mar-1962 [a] L3-4 St Mirren (Scottish Reserve League) |
– ET 17/3/1962. Gray, Hogan, Wright (D), WRIGHT (A), Harvey, ?, Williamson, Kerr, Cowan, TINNEY, Coyle. Remaining scorer as yet unsourced. |
