Hastings put Thistle ahead (13) but Clyde equalised (25). What proved to be the winner came from Nimmo although Clyde had lots of pressure before the break. Report only to half-time.
9. Sat-17-Sep-1960 [h] W2-1 Motherwell (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 17/9/1960. Curran, Wright, Thomson, Closs, Staite, Kelly, Trialist, Miller, Wardlaw, Hastings, Sim. Scorers as yet unsourced.
Thistle had lots of the play but the forwards, with the exception of Hastings and Wardlaw, were off colour. A positive start deteriorated into a towsy and ragged affair with numerous fouls approaching the break. Report only to half-time.
10. Sat-24-Sep-1960 [a] D0-0 Dundee United (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 24/9/1960. Curran, Thomson, McKinnon, Hastings, Staite, Calder, Ferns, Miller, Kerr, Fletcher, Sim. Thistle's first ever reserve match against Dundee United.
Poor defending by Thistle wasn't punished because United's forwards were poor. Eventually Thistle got going and the home keeper had some fine saves. Approaching the break United hit the post and the ball rebounded into Curran's arms. Report only to half-time.
11. Sat-01-Oct-1960 [a] L0-4 Hibernian (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 1/10/1960. Curran, Wright, Thomson, Closs, Staite, Hastings, Ferns, Miller, Wardlaw, Fletcher, Sim.
Closs almost caught the keeper napping from way out but it was all Hibs as they hemmed Thistle in. Closs went close but it was Hibs who took a deserved lead by the break. Report only to half-time.
12. Sat-08-Oct-1960 [h] D2-2 Heart of Midlothian (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 8/10/1960. Curran, Wright, Thomson, Closs, McKinnon, Hastings, Rossi, FLETCHER, Kerr, Sim, FERNS.
After good work by Fletcher and Rossi, Ferns hit an unsavable shot past the keeper (2). Fletcher doubled the lead (40) only for Hearts to reduce it again (43). Report only to half-time.
13. Sat-15-Oct-1960 [h] W2-1 St Mirren (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 15/10/1960. Curran, Wright, Thomson, Closs, McKinnon, Hastings, Sim, Fletcher, Kerr, Cunningham, Ferns. Scorers as yet unsourced.
Thistle had some early chances then gifted Saints the lead from a faulty clearance by Curran (8). Cunningham brought out a fine save then a last-ditch clearance by Wright saved the day. Cunningham's shot was blocked when keeper and full-back collided. Report only to half-time.
14. Sat-22-Oct-1960 [a] D1-1 Ayr United (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 22/10/1960. Curran, Wright, Thomson, Closs, McKinnon, Henderson, Fleming, Wilson, Fletcher, Sim, Ferns. Scorer as yet unsourced.
Four minutes into the match Curran fumbled a pass-back and Ayr nipped in to score. Thistle recovered and Sim missed two golden chances to level. Later, Fletcher had two good efforts well saved. Report only to half-time.
15. Tue-25-Oct-1960 [a] D2-2 Raith Rovers (Scottish 2nd XI Cup 2nd Round)
FFP 29/10/1960. Freebairn, Wright, Thomson, Closs. McKinnon, Hastings, Fleming, Wilson, FLETCHER, Sim, FERNS. First round bye.
Rovers led 1-0 at half-time but they fell away badly and only daring goalkeeping kept them in the cup. Fletcher latched on to a long clearance for 1-1 (52) but a slip by Freebairn gave Rovers the lead (54). Ferns score (64) and it was all Thistle until the end.
16. Fri-28-Oct-1960 [h] W3-1 St Johnstone (Scottish Reserve League)
GH 29/10/1960. Gray, Wright, Thomson (D), Closs, McKinnon, Hastings, FERNS (2), Wilson, Nimmo, Sim, FLEMING.
17. Sat-05-Nov-1960 [a] L0-2 Dunfermline Athletic (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 5/11/1960. Curran, Wright, Thomson, Closs, McKinnon, Hastings, Ferns, Wilson, Fletcher, Sim, Fleming.
Curran allowed a soft shot to bounce off his chest and the loose ball was tucked away. For the rest of the half Dunfermline had no difficulty in containing Thistle - but without increasing their lead. Report only to half-time.
18. Tue-08-Nov-1960 [h] L2-3 Raith Rovers (Scottish 2nd XI Cup 2nd Round replay)
FFP (12/11/1960). Curran, Wright, THOMSON, Closs McKinnon, Hastings, Ferns, Cunningham, FLETCHER, Sim, Fleming.
Early goals put Thistle 2-up (Fletcher and Thomson) but Rovers got a goal before the break. A re-organised line-up in the 2nd half worked wonders for Rovers and two goals inside a minute knocked the stuffing out of Thistle.
19. Fri-11-Nov-1960 [h] L1-4 Celtic (Scottish Reserve League)
SFHA. Curran, Wright, Thomson (D), Closs, McKinnon, Hastings, Rossi, Fleming, Hainey, Fletcher, Waugh. Scorer as yet unsourced.
20. Sat-19-Nov-1960 [a] W2-0 Airdrieonians (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 19/11/1960. McKinnon, Wright, Thomson, Closs, Staite, Hastings, Ferns, Miller, Fletcher, Cunningham, FLEMING (2).
The Airdrie keeper put up the shutters and denied Thistle the opener with a string of excellent saves but he was finally beaten when Fleming first-timed a corner into the roof of the net (31). Airdrie missed a good chance to level just on half-time. Report only to half-time.
21. Sat-26-Nov-1960 [h] L3-5 Dundee (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 26/11/1960. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
22. Sat-03-Dec-1960 [h] L4-5 Raith Rovers (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 3/12/1960. Curran, Wright, Thomson, FERNS, McKinnon, Calder, Rossi, GOURLAY (2), FLETCHER, ?, Trialist.
A whirlwind start saw Fletcher score (1), Rovers score (2) and Gourlay score (4). Thomson fired a penalty wide but Gourlay got his second only for Rovers to make it 3-2 at the break. A header (55) levelled things then Rovers went ahead (74). Fearns scored for 4-4 only for the winner to come almost immediately.
23. Sat-10-Dec-1960 [a] W1-0 Third Lanark (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 10/12/1960. McKinnon, Wright, Thomson, Ferns, ?, Mathers, Rossi, ?, Fletcher, Hastings, Waugh. Scorer as yet unsourced. Report partly illegible.
It was a poor game with little to enthuse over. Attempts at goal were scarce and defences were on top. When the keeper failed to hold a shot by Hastings someone following up put Thistle ahead. Report only to half-time.
24. Sat-17-Dec-1960 [h] W4-2 Aberdeen (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 17/12/1960. Newman, Wright, Thomson, Ferns, McKinnon, Mathers, Smith, Miller, Fletcher, Hastings, Waugh. Scorers as yet unsourced.
Thistle were up against it from the start as Aberdeen had "newman" in goal performing some excellent saves. They also hit the bar. Not unexpectedly the pressure told and Aberdeen scored for 1-0 at half-time. Report only to half-time.
25. Sat-24-Dec-1960 [a] L1-7 Kilmarnock (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 24/12/1960. Curran, Wright, Thomson, Ferns, McKinnon, Mathers, Rossi, Hastings, ?, Hogan, Waugh. Scorer as yet unsourced.
Twice Curran dropped shots and twice the ball was put away for 2-0, Time, 4 minutes. Thistle got back into the game but their finishing was erratic and Curran partially redeemed himself with some good saves. Report only to half-time.
26. Sat-31-Dec-1960 [a] L0-3 Rangers (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 31/12/1960. Newman, Hogan, Thomson, Cunningham, McKinnon, Hastings, Rossi, Gourlay, Fletcher, Miller, Ferns.
The Rangers keeper was virtually an onlooker as his team attacked continuously. "Newman" in goal had some fine saves but got lucky when the ball ran along the bar and was cleared. Report only to half-time.
27. Mon-02-Jan-1961 [h] W1-0 Clyde (Scottish Reserve League)
SFHA. Line-up and scorer as yet unsourced. No press coverage of this match/score found.
28. Sat-07-Jan-1961 [a] L2-8 Motherwell (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 7/1/1961. Trialist, Hastings, Thomson, Mathers, McKinnon, Bell, Turner, CUNNINGHAM (2), Kerr, Miller, Waugh.
Thistle found themselves 4-down inside 20 minutes. The forwards got little support because the wing-halves were totally engaged in defensive work. The best Thistle chance came from Waugh whose rasping shot was well saved. Report only to half-time.
29. Sat-14-Jan-1961 [h] W4-3 Dundee United (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 14/1/1961. Newman, Wright, Thomson, Closs, McKinnon, Mathers, Turner, Gourlay, KERR, Hastings, FERNS. Remaining scorers as yet unsourced.
Clever play by Gourlay set up Ferns for the opener (10). United grazed a post before Kerr made it 2-0 (20). Three minutes later "newman" stopped a shot then dropped it over the line for 2-1. Two goals in the last 5 minutes put United ahead at the interval. Report only to half-time.
30. Sat-21-Jan-1961 [h] L0-2 Hibernian (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 21/1/1961. McKinnon, Wright, Thomson, Mathers, Staite, Cunningham, Turner, Gourlay, Fletcher, Kerr, Ferns.
Both teams had chances but gradually Hibs got the better of things. Two goals by the half-hour left Thistle a lot to do. A shot by Ferns punched over for a corner was as close as they got. Thistle remained 5th. Report only to half-time.
31. Sat-11-Feb-1961 [h] D0-0 Third Lanark (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 11/2/1961. McKinnon, Thomson, Calder, Terrace, Staite, Mathers, ?, Fletcher, Wardlaw, Kerr, Waugh.
Both keepers coped with anything asked of them. A long-range drive by Kerr and a Fletcher header were Thistle's best efforts then Kerr hit the bar with a long shot just before the interval. Report only to half-time.
32. Fri-17-Feb-1961 [a] D1-1 St Mirren (Scottish Reserve League)
GH 18/2/1961. Young, Staite, Thomson, Mathers, McKinnon, Hastings, Rossi, Gourlay, Wardlaw, WHITELAW, Ewing. We think that "Newman" was Whitelaw.

ET 11/3/1961. Gray, Muir, Wright, Mathers, Staite, Hastings, Smith, Gourlay, Kerr, Cunningham, Waugh. Scorers as yet unsourced.
Smith found the side netting twice early on but it was Dunfermline who finished the half a goal to the good. Report only to half-time.
34. Fri-17-Mar-1961 [a] W2-1 Celtic (Scottish Reserve League)
GH 18/3/1961. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
35. Mon-20-Mar-1961 [h] L0-2 Central League Select (Friendly)
DR 21/3/1961. Young, Muir, Wright, Closs, Staite, Cunningham, Turner, Scott, Fletcher, Whitelaw, Waugh. (Kerr.)
36. Sat-25-Mar-1961 [h] D0-0 Airdrieonians (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 25/3/1961. Freebairn, Muir, Wright, Closs, Staite, Donlevy, Turner, Miller, Gourlay, Sim, Rossi.
It was a midfield stalemate for most of the first half. Airdrie headed narrowly over then Thistle's best chance came from a pass-back saved at full length by the keeper. Sim limped off approaching half-time. Report only to half-time.
37. Sat-01-Apr-1961 [a] W3-0 Dundee (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 1/4/1961. Freebairn, Muir, Thomson, Hastings, Staite, Donlevy, Fletcher, Wright, Gourlay, Kerr, Ferns. Scorers as yet unsourced.
Thistle never looked like scoring in the first half. A couple of efforts were well saved by the home keeper, that was all. In contrast Freebairn was tested throughout but met the challenge with some "daring saves". Report only to half-time.
38. Sat-08-Apr-1961 [a] W2-1 Raith Rovers (Scottish Reserve League)
FFP 15/4/1961. Gray, Muir, THOMSON, Cunningham, Staite, Calder, Fletcher, Kerr, Ferns, Miller, WAUGH.
Thistle caught Rovers cold in 60 seconds when Thomson fired in a free-kick from 30 yards. Rovers' finishing was poor but on the half-hour a header put them level. Rovers had the best of the 2nd half but a Waugh trundler sealed the points.
39. Mon-10-Apr-1961 [h] W4-0 Ayr United (Scottish Reserve League)
GH 11/4/1961. HAINEY, FERNS, WHITELAW, FLETCHER. Line-up as yet unsourced.

ET 22/4/1961. Gray, MUIR (pen), Thomson, Calder, Staite, Cunningham, Fletcher, Kerr, GOURLAY (2), Ferns, Waugh. Remaining scorer as yet unsourced.
Thistle played most of the 1st half without Waugh who was taken to hospital with a facial injury. Two goals by Fletcher put Thistle on their way then Muir converted a penalty (40). Report only to half-time.
42. Mon-24-Apr-1961 [a] D1-1 Heart of Midlothian (Scottish Reserve League)
GH 25/4/1961. FERNS. Line-up as yet unsourced.
43. Sat-29-Apr-1961 [h] W4-0 Kilmarnock (Scottish Reserve League)
ET 29/4/1961. Young, Muir, Thomson, Staite, Trialist, Wright, Fletcher, Kerr, Gourlay, FERNS, Trialist. Remaining scorers as yet unsourced.
Thistle did most of the pressing but failed to make the breakthrough until trialist No 11 set up Ferns just before half-time. Report only to half-time.
