– ET 4/2/1956. Harvey, Collins, Donlevy, Thomson, McNab, Baird, McInnes, Crawford, Brown, Hastings, McFarlane. |

– GH 1/3/1956. Ledgerwood, Collins, Donlevy, Thomson (R), McNab, Crawford, McKenzie, Thomson (L), Brown, McDonald, Walker. |
– Rangers were the more experienced team but Thistle were not far behind. Both teams had chances but, particularly in the last 15 minutes, squandered them all. Donlevy and McNab were “splendid defenders”. |

– ET 3/3/1956. Ledgerwood, Collins, Donlevy, Thomson (R), McNab, Brodie, THOMSON (L), Harvey, Brown, Crawford, Walker. Remaining scorers as yet unsourced. |

– EEN 31/3/1956. Smith, Collins, Donlevy, Thomson (B), McNab, Brodie, Thomson (L), CRAWFORD, Hogan, McDonald, Smith (G). |
– On a bitterly cold Friday night Thistle were good value for their win. They were the better moving side and often had the homesters under pressure. The only goal came when Crawford beat two men and shot home his rebounded shot the keeper punched out (47). |
45. Wed-04-Apr-1956 [a] L0-2 Kilmarnock (Scottish Reserve League) |
– GH 5/4/1956. Line-up as yet unsourced. |

– “Dull uninteresting fare” was the local verdict but Thistle were worthy winners thanks to goals from a penalty by Donlevy for hand ball and two from glaring defensive errors by Smith and not known all in the last 8 minutes of the first half. |
47. Fri-13-Apr-1956 [h] L1-4 Aberdeen (Scottish 2nd XI Cup Final, 1st leg) |
– GH 14/4/1956. HOGAN. Line-up as yet unsourced. |
48. Mon-16-Apr-1956 [a] L1-2 Aberdeen (Scottish 2nd XI Cup Final, 2nd leg) |
– AEE 16/4/1956. Agg 2-6. Ledgerwood, Collins, McGowan, Thomson (B), McNab, Wright, Hogan, Thomson (L), Mallon, SMITH, Ewing. |
– 8,000 saw Thistle reduce the deficit though Smith, the keeper looking suspect. After they hit the bar, Aberdeen equalised (43). Hogan's effort was cleared off the line just after half-time but there was no doubting Aberdeen were the better team across both legs. |
49. Fri-20-Apr-1956 [a] W2-1 Celtic (Scottish Reserve League) |
– GH 21/4/1956. CROWE, HOGAN. Line-up as yet unsourced. |

– ET 28/4/1956. Ledgerwood, Collins, Donlevy, Thomson (R), McNab, Brodie, Thomson (L), Baird, HOGAN (2), CROWE, "NEWMAN". (1 og.) |
– The Fifers played some classy football but it didn't reap rewards. Thistle were more direct and a Hogan drive was deflected past the keeper (31). Crowe made it 2-0 three minutes later. Report only to half-time. |
53. Fri-04-May-1956 [a] D1-1 Heart of Midlothian (Scottish Reserve League) |
– EEN 5/5/1956. Thomson (D), Ralston, Donlevy, Collins, Brown, Brodie, Thomson (L), Davidson, WALKER, McDonald, Hastings. |
– A typical end of season match. Hearts struck woodwork twice and had a goal inexplicably ruled out. A defensive slip let in Walker (69) but Hearts equalised when the defence was split open (71) - deservedly on the night. |
