GG 23/8/1952. Bell, Collins, Kerr, Harvey, McNab, McGuire, Duff, McIntosh, Miller, Henderson, "Newman".
2,000 saw grit, determination and good goalkeeping earn Stranraer a point in a match where they were more or less outplayed. Their keeper saved a Collins penalty and in the last 10 minutes they might have stolen both points.

Thistle's best chance of winning was before Airdrie settled down but they couldn't score. Once Airdrie took over - despite an injury to a player after half an hour - a glorious 20-yard drive in the second half settled the issue.

Play was even for the first half-hour but Motherwell began to get on top. Bell had a marvellous save then a penalty for a foul by Collins was tucked away (37). A header (44) made it 2-0 then it was 3-0 soon after half-time. Miller scored late on in a breakaway.

ET 27/9/1952. Blair, Collins, Husband, Harvey, KERR (pen), McNab, Anderson, Crawford, Miller, Pollock, Henderson.
Thistle were early on the front foot and Crawford in particular was prominent - shaving a post. On 35 mins Motherwell hit the bar with a penalty then Miller's header was cleared off then line. Kerr scored with a penalty after half-time but it ended 1-1.

ET 11/10/1952. Bell, Collins, Cassells, McNab, Brown, Haugh, McCallum, Crawford, Miller, Mathers, HENDERSON.
A deflected shot beat Bell (25) then Henderson went close. Thistle had the best of things up to half-time and Henderson scored with a hooked shot from close in then Mathers hit the bar. Report only to half-time.

A goal by McCallum who was outstanding gave Thistle the lead (25). He might have doubled it soon after but he hit the post from 18 yards. Collins had a fine game in defence as Queens applied the pressure before half-time. Report only to half-time.

GG 15/11/1952. Bell, Collins, Gibb, Husband, Brown, Mathers, McCALLUM, McIntosh, Miller, Anderson, McInnes.
A defensive lapse in the second half let McCallum in for the opener, firing hard into the corner. A long ball up the park was chased, Bell was jostled and the ball broke to the scorer for a tap in. Stranraer were pressing strongly when the whistle blew.

Anderson set up Miller to put Thistle ahead (3). St Mirren hit the bar then Bell had a fine save to hold on to the lead. When McCallum was upended in the box he scored with the resultant penalty for 2-0 (30). Report only to half-time.

Thistle had most of the early play and almost scored with a 20-yard Thomson free-kick but a minute later McCredie put them ahead (21). Kilmarnock's strong defence was proving an obstacle but McCallum hit the bar just before half-time. Report only to half-time.

Miller set up McIntosh for the opener (8). Thistle could have been 2 or 3-up before MacKenzie outstripped the defence to score (28). A pen for a trip reduced the lead (32) and an equaliser came (43). Report only to half-time.

Rangers had the early chances but Thistle came into it and Wright headed just over. A cut-back was finished off (20) then an effort was cleared off the Rangers line before McIntosh headed home. Report only to half-time.

Several good chances were wasted then the Morton keeper collapsed and was taken off. McInnes finally gave Thistle the lead against the 10 men (35). Report only to half-time.

Clever play by McInnes set up McCallum in 5 minutes then Thirds wasted several good chances to level but finally scored (40). Report only to half-time.

Thirds were hardly out of their own half as Thistle had them on the backfoot. McCallum went close, the keeper saved a Miller effort on the line, then one from Crawford. Three efforts were kicked off the line in the one attack. Report only to half-time.

Wright headed in a Duff cross (1) then Motherwell hit the bar. A brilliant 12-yard shot by Duff made it 2-0. After that it was end to end play until half-time. Report only to half-time.

The score at half-time (3-0) didn't flatter the Rose. Thistle players didn't seem to be taking it too seriously. Smith scored twice after half-time but this Friday night friendly in support of Rose's floodlight fund was all about the locals' win.

Thistle made nothing a stout defence and couldn't cope with a livewire forward line. Down 1-0 at half-time, four second half goals (the third through Smith's legs) meant there was no way back.
