GH 16/8/1951 & ACA 18/8/1951. DUFF, GILLICK, ANDERSON. Line-up as yet unsourced.
Surrounded by youngsters, veteran Gillick was the best man on the park. Airdrie went ahead but Duff levelled before half-time. A point-blank save from Gillick was touched in by him at the second attempt and Anderson finished the scoring after a scramble.

Howitt went close early on then St Mirren skimmed the bar. Miller scored when Hewitt free-kick was parried by the keeper (27) but St Mirren levelled (44) following a corner. Report only to half-time.

Queens missed several good chances including an open goal and finally took the lead (23). Howitt and Balfour missed easy chances to equalise before the interval. Report only to half-time. Thistle had Jackie Husband in goal.

When Bell misjudged a high ball Queens went 1-up inside 2 minutes. Stott saw his penalty saved (25) but he made amends with his18-yard shot on the half-hour. Report only to half-time.

A defensive blunder when a defender put a pass-back past his own keeper (10) put Thistle ahead. An 18-yarder by Wright made it 2 then Bell had a magnificent point-blank save. Shire went close before half-time. McCredie swept home an Anderson cross (88).

McKenzie skimmed the bar and Balfour grazed a post. Dumbarton tried to take the game to Thistle but were driven back. A Balfour effort was cleared off the line (45). Report only to half-time.

ET 3/11/1951. Bell, Collins, Hewitt, Kinnell, Forsyth, "Newman", GILLICK, CUNNINGHAM, MILLER, Crawford, McCREDIE. Remaining scorer as yet unsourced.
Miller set up Cunningham for the opener (15) then Miller made it 2-0 (16). Thirds pulled one back. McCredie scored (19) as did Gillick (39) for 4-1 at half-time. Report only to half-time.
14. Sat-17-Nov-1951 [a] D2-2 St Mirren (SFL Division C South-West)
PDE 19/11/1951. McCREDIE (2). Line-up as yet unsourced.
A Thistle shot was cleared off the line before McCredie scored when a shot came off the bar and he tucked it home (37). St Mirren hit the post then scored before half-time. The teams shared costly defensive mix-ups, McCredie again scoring for Thistle.

ACA 15/12/1951. KINNELL, GILLICK. Line-up as yet unsourced.
Kinnell gave Thistle a half-time lead but a quick one-two put Airdrie 2-1 up. A third goal put the points beyond Thistle but Gillick rounded off the proceedings with a goal he deserved on his performance.

ET 15/12/1951. Bell, Brown, Collins, Hewitt, Forsyth, Hill, Gillick, Kinnell, MILLER, McNAB, Henderson. Remaining scorer as yet unsourced.
Queens took the lead (14) then a header by Miller hit the bar and Henderson hit the post. On 32 mins it was 2-0 but McNab rose to head home a Gillick cross (37). It was all Thistle then and Miller scored from 18 yards just on half-time. Report only to half-time.
19. Sat-22-Dec-1951 [a] D2-2 Rangers (SFL Division C South-West)
ET 22/12/1951. Bell, Brown, Hewitt, Harvey, Forsyth, Hill, McKenzie, Miller, Gillick, McNAB (2), McCredie.
Forsyth cleared with Bell beaten in the first minute then future-JAG Niven cleared a McCredie effort at the second attempt. Bell saved a penalty on half-time. McNab scored twice as the teams shared 4 goals in the second half.
20. Sat-05-Jan-1952 [a] D2-2 Stranraer (SFL Division C South-West)
GG 12/1/1952. Bell, Brown, McCredie, Kinnell, Forsyth, Hill, Duff, Howitt, Miller, McGuire, BALFOUR (2).
It was end to end stuff then Stranraer took the lead. A clever goal by Balfour levelled things. It was nip and tuck again and Balfour scored then Kinnell retired injured (bad cut). Stranraer got their equaliser against the 10 men.

10,000 saw a header (8) and a penalty (9) put Thistle in trouble but a lobbed pass-back led to an og to reduce the deficit (28). Miller ran from midfield outstripping defenders to level (41). Report only to half-time.

MT 21/3/1952. Bell, Brown, Collins, McNab, Harvey, Howitt, Duff, Henderson, Miller, Anderson, BALFOUR.
Thistle were very much second best and trailed 1-0 at half-time. The cause wasn't helped by the loss of Miller to injury just on half-time. The 10 men fell further behind and it was 3-0 on 88 mins before Balfour scored a minute later for a consolation goal.

Kinnell caught Kilmarnock cold and put Thistle ahead (1). Kilmarnock went close then Thistle hit back and Duff had a shot cleared off the line. Kinnell got his second with a 20-yarder (35). 2-0 at half-time. Killie were just edged out by the odd goal in 7.

DGS 12/4/1952. Ledgerwood, Brown, Gibb, Thomson, Collins, McNab, Henderson, Anderson, GILLICK, Sharp, Balfour.
A deft header by Gillick (24) put Thistle ahead. Anderson's spot kick was parried but he hit the bar with the rebound. Queens converted a pen and it was exciting stuff until the end. Both sets of forwards should have done better but it was a fair result.

Motherwell went 1-up in just 3 minutes but it was all square 2 mins later when Kinnell burst through to set up Duff for 1-1.Thistle were playing well and deserved to go in at half-time 2-1 up thanks to Anderson. Report only to half-time.

GH 17/4/1952. STOTT (2), BROWN. Line-up as yet unsourced. Thistle finished 2nd, 5 points behind Rangers.
33. Fri-18-Apr-1952 [a] L2-4 Motherwell (SFL Division C South-West)
MT 25/4/1952. GILLICK, SHARP. Line-up as yet unsourced.
Motherwell led 2-1 at half-time, Gillick having scored. Sharp levelled soon after half-time but Motherwell's No 9 completed a personal triumph by scoring all 4 goals. Thistle never managed to keep him in check all night.
34. Mon-21-Apr-1952 [h] L0-2 Stranraer (SFL Division C South-West)

By no means one-sided, Stranraer's keeper had some fine saves but the goals that mattered came from the visitors - both in the second half. They even had the luxury of missing a late penalty, firing the ball straight at the Thistle keeper.

ACA 26/4/1952. To open pavilion at Baillieston Juniors FC. The Thistle team included ex-Baillieston Junior players McNab, Harvey and Duff.
An entertaining game despite the 5-0 scoreline which flattered Celtic.

KLS 3/5/1952. Bell, Brown, McCredie, Thomson, Kerr, McNab, SMITH, Henderson, SHARP (2), HOWITT, WALKER. First sighting of trialist Andy Kerr (Lugar Boswell Thistle FC.)
Thistle trounce Killie. End of season debacle”. A deflected shot by Howitt and a solo effort by Sharp put Thistle 2-up in 10 mins. A Smith header (64) and goals by Sharp (68) and Walker (85) finished the reserve season in style.
39. Wed-30-Apr-1952 [a] W4-1 Renfrew Select (Benefit)
DR 1/5/1952. 7.15pm at King George Playing Fields for the benefit of the two groundsmen there. The Select was from juvenile teams of the area, including Renfrew Waverley. Thistle sent a strong line-up and two Jags who played for the latter named club - Jackie Husband & Archie McCallum - were in the Thistle line-up.
